Pioneer Shallow subs?

Anyone have any experience using the new Pioneer shallow depth 10"s?

I just traded to a F250 CrewCab and my Punch P2's won't fit the box required for the back seat.

Any suggestions of shallow subs that can take low air space?

.45 is the air in the box per sub.

Thanks

I can't comment on the Pioneer shallow subs...haven't heard them.

But, depending on your mounting depth (and budget) I would look into these subs:

Stereo Integrity BM 10 (5.5" mounting depth) $240
http://www.audiojunkies.com/product_...product_id=261

DLS Iridium and/or Nobelium (5.25" mounting depth) I think around $450
http://www.dls.se/english/

Or wait for TC Sound's TC-SMT 10" (3" mounting depth) $250

Just my opinion.

I've heard them... I think they're embarrasing. They sound terrible. Even the guy trying to sell them wasn't able to say much good about them. I heard a single twelve, and then two twelves together, and the output was less than 8" sub of decent quality. I like brypink2's suggestions, but for a much cheaper option, look into the JBL GTO series.. Very shallow mount, and they're actually quite impressive SQ wise and output wise. Power handling isn't all that impressive, but you can put a lot of power to them anyway.

You're gonna be really hard pressed to find a 10" sub that sounds good in .45 cuft. That's the same size that most 8" subs run in. You might want to try getting a different box with more volume. Maybe run 1 10" or 1 12" like me.

Good luck!

Don

The SI BM 10" will work in that small of a box.

well... any of them will "work," but whether or not it sounds good and can hit the lower octaves, is the question...

How low do you expect a 10" to play in a .4 ft^3 box anyway?

That's pretty much my point from the first post...

10's can hit pretty low with enough cu ft. But in a .45 cuft enclosure, it's gonna be more like a mid-bass than a sub...

Thanks for the posts guys...I think I found some subs that are rated down to .30-.5 airspace. The Phoenix Gold 10's.

They seem to have deep excursion too.

Good Luck!!! For smaller enclosures...give the sub a little more power!!!! A sub in a smaller enclosure wont be as efficient as if it were in a larger enclosure.

If you guys are still watching this post...I got my box in and subs that were recommended...autobahn's...man they sound like ****.

Horrible. Absolutely no lows...but rock songs and country hit really hard just as mentioned above.

The mounting depth I have to work with is 5.25 MAX.

Is there a 12 that will work in that small of an airspace? Or are there better 10's I could get for lower air space? I saw some that were rated down to .35

Thoughts?

JP

Brypink: I think your JL setup is tight. Do you think I could get 1 W7 in a SCREW without a seat lift. Where would I get a seat lift if needed, also, where can i get a enclosure like the one you have the W7's in
