2006 XLT Radio Question

I recent;y bought my first new truck....Excellent!!

I am a music junkie and the factory speakers don't cut it. However I do wish to keep the clean look of my factory Head unit, not to mention the 6 CD changer, MPS capability and Sat.

I am to chicken to pull of the door panels this soon but I was curious if my radio option has component speakers? It looks like there are tweeters as well as midrange components in the door, but like I said, to chicken to check. Also, I wanted to know where, if anywhere, was the factory subwoofer, it is an option on Crutchfield's "What fits my car" selection.

Just for an FYI for you other guys out there like me, JL Audio make a "box" that is connected to your factory HU which equalizes the signal.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's easy to check your front speakers. Just gently pull the gray plastic cover off. If you don't have componets you can add aftermarkets -- most 5 1/4 inches will fit -- check Crutchfield. The problem will be you OEM head unit will not power componets well enough IMO. You should add an amp that accepts speaker level from your head unit.

I liked my OEM look but purchased a Pinoeer AVIC-D1 / Navigation that looks factory. It will do everthing you are asking.

I just took all my factory speakers out and put in some Kicker DS68

WOW so much better. Soon to get the Alpine with the built in XM and a Kicker Amp 60X4 ch. With Kicker KQ9 Signal Processor and 8" sub under the rear seats.
