New system
New system
I'm going to be upgrading the system in my 06 Screw and was wondering if anyone here has any opinions on the stuff I'm looking at putting in. I've got a bunch of stuff from my old truck and more that's just laying around; just wondering what would be the best setup I could have with what I've got. I plan on keeping the in-dash 6CD MP3.
I have a Pioneer EQ-6500 from my last truck that I liked and plan on sending the signal from the LOC to it, then to the amps.
I need a new sub and have been looking at the ED 11.kv2. I plan on powering it with the MTX Blue Thunder Pro 1502 I have. It pushed the 3 JL 10W0's I had in my 98 with enough thump for me so I think it should be enough for the 10''. Would I be better to get the dual 2 ohm sub and bridge the amp, or get the dual 4 ohm and run one channel from the amp to each vc?
For the front and rear speakers I've got a Clarion A4600. Depending on what kind of power I need, I can run it in 6/5/4 channel mode (70x4 and 90x2 in 6ch). I've got a set of Pioneer 2-way 5x7's for the rear doors. They worked fine in my old truck, so for rears, I think they'll do.
The rest of the speakers I have never installed or tested; bought them on ebay and never got them in my 98. DEI 3055 5 1/4'' components I plan on putting in the front doors. I've also got 2 DEI 3084 8'' mid-bass woofers and xovers. I don't know where I'd put them, or if I should use them instead of the ED 10''. Has anyone used these DEI speakers before?
Just looking for opinions on the setup. I'm not out to win any competitions, but better sound and more thump are always better.

I cant comment on the sub, Ive never heard it before. Im just not much of an eD fan. Seems like quite a few people have been getting them here lately, and are pretty pleased with them though.
Never used those speakers either. However, if you do use the 8" mid bass, use the sub too. A mid bass doesnt play the same frequencies as a sub, it plays mid bass, just as the name implies, and a sub plays sub bass, lower frequencies than mid bass. Unless you already know you want the 8's, I woudl just stick in the components/rears and the sub, and then determine if you want more mid bass. If so, drop in the 8's and adjust the xovers accordingly...
What would you recommend for a sub? I don't want to raise the rear seat, and I'd like to use the MTX amp I already have. The eD sub is shallow enough to fit under the seat, the price seems pretty good, and others have seemed happy with it.
What does that amp do for power (RMS) and at what ohm?
If that eD is something that you would like to try, go for it. Like I said, it seems like many people here have had good luck with them, and really enjoy it. Me? Im just not an eD fan, but this is YOUR stereo...

Hmm, just a couple more ideas you could consider are-Image Dynamics IDQ or ID, SS RLi, AA Assassin, JL W3v2.......hmmmmmm other stuff. Just a couple other things to look at if you havent already...
