Lightning Audio vs Pioneer 3way 6x8's...

Stopped by the local Walmart to pick up a pair of the Pioneer 3-ways mentioned so much for a basic speaker upgrade (ie no amp, just oem HU only)...however they were out of stock. They did have some Lightning Audio 6x8's by Rockford Fosgate, though, and for a bit cheaper price. I know RF is a good quality brand from my boomer days, but don't know anything about LA. I searched but not alot of posts on Lightning Audio speakers - anybody running them and if so what do you think?

IMO with those speakers you would notbe looking at much of an upgrade from stock. what goals are your trying to accomplish with your set up?

Just a better quality sound, without changing the HU or amping. The Pioneer 3ways have been discussed alot as a decent replacement for the factory speaker, and they are what I was going to get, but since they were out I noticed these.

Honestly down the road I may consider adding a small amp, like 50x4 maybe, run some components up front and 6x8 fills (most likely what I purchase now, moving them from the front to the back at that time) But for now I just want to get a bit better sound from the factory setup.

EDIT - Actually, I possibly see a DPX501 in my future, nice 2xdin HU at a decent price...but still at 22 watts RMS probably not enough for components so still looking for a decent set of 2/3ways for the doors...

I have replaced my speakers with the Pioneers from WalMart. Clean sound but something is lacking. The highs are o.k. but the lower end can use a boost. Way better than the original speakers but still lacking some what. I am working on adding a small subwoofer to enhance the low end.
