Component Speakers
Component Speakers
Ive got a standard non-audiophile HU, but just bought an audiophile HU and sub off ebay that I am about to install. I am planning on upgrading the door speakers at the same time. I really do not want to add an amp to the door speakers. I am thinking of going with the Audiobahn AS57PV components up front. These are fairly new, come on a 6x8 plate with detachable tweets that can be mounted another place if you choose. Anyone use these speakers before?

I recommend putting the crossover under the armrest. That’s where Ford put the factory crossover if your truck came with the audiophile system. I replaced my stock front audiophile speakers with the Infinity Reference Component System 6810cs and that’s where I put the Infinity crossover at.
I don’t know how big the crossover is with the component set that you are getting from Polk, but the crossover that came with my Infinity Reference Component system fit just perfectly under the armrest and didn’t require any bolting down.

I got the Polk MM6500 components and the crossover is too big for the armrest. I put mine inthe kickpanels and they are holding up fine. Eventually you are going to want to run those components with an amp. They are very power hungry. Good luck either way
I went and talked with the guys at the local audio shop today. They (along with yall) convinced me to just break down and do it right by getting an amp to go with the components.
BTW,
I bought an audiophile sub and HU off ebay...the harness was already built into the truck...plug and play.
