Elemental Designs VS Kicker CVR

Here's the deal I just installed my jensen unit and now I NEED bass. The unit made the stock speakers sound so much better. But I need subs.

I thought about the jl stealthbox but it's too pricey and won't be loud enough for me. I want loud when I want to crank it up and turn heads. but for everyday driving i want something clear. EVERYONE says get elemental designs but I have never heard the subs and they don't look too big of a company and everytime I go to their site to order them the site goes blank?wtf. I have heard jl and i love it, just too pricey and they won't fit in the musicmoose dual 10" box that i want to use. I have also heard kicker comp vr's and Im not too impressed but i guess they would get the job done?

So just give me some input on what you guys think. And if you own any elemental designs give me a lot of info on them of the pros and cons. and how long they have lasted you. pictures would be great too.

-thanks

Yeah, I've got to aree. Maybe you need to look into just throwing a shell on it, cut it out for a walk through & fill it slam full. That might get loud enough, but I'll settle on my ED's. No problems, sound good.

I agree with f150truckin- clean bass that stays in the truck takes alot more talent achieve than a bunch of noise that can be heard from blocks away.

If you want everyone to hear you and it hurt your ears, you can make that happen very easily with a ported enclosure. All ported is good for is loud noise. There is no precision at all.

All in all, you are going to need alot more than two 10" woofers to make everyone in the neighborhood hear you. I have two 10" L5 Solo Barics and they definatly can be heard outside of the truck, but they retain very deep, clean and tight bass.

i will definitely disagree. the eD's perform well with small enclosures. they arent SPL drivers but theyre no slouch. its not how big or many subwoofers you have, its how well your equipment is purchased, installed, and tuned. ill give people puke checks and dish cabinet rattles with one sealed 12. two 11Kv2's from eD receiving 600-800 watts RMS will sound great and give you good output; i wouldnt put them as much louder than CVRs but they are better in every other facet period.

I agree on the bass should be for you not every person around you BUT the statement about ported is only for noise and basicaly saying no room in SQ is 100% inaccurate and a very uneducated statement. I ask you to go review 95 percent of the past 5 years SQ instalation world finals winners and then come back and tell me that you still think this is a true statement. i for one know that i can build some ported boxes that will destroy any sealed box you can bring to me. it is all in the goals of the install.

there is so much mis-information about the proper install "rules" out there and things like this only add to it.

well i don't want the stupid *** vibration rattle. every local carshow about ten friends and I have a section just for lifted vehicles. and every year we promote my friend's lifting business. so we all park in a circle and jam what we have. i want it to be audible out of the vehicle. i don't want the **** that knocks your neighbor's pictures off that walls, thats just ridiculous. i just want to know how elemental designs are going to perform against kicker subs. i know how loud two tens, sealed, with 300rms each will sound, i just need to know how they two woofers differ.

in an underseat box compared to cvr's in an underseat box the eD's have a ridiculous advantage. kicker products are NOT SQ oriented(im sorry, you cant ever get me to agree wtih that . . ) . . plus they require massive amounts of space and do horribly in the underseat environment

its not even a battle at this point its a rout

Should last at least 3 years. That's how of a warranty they have.

I don't follow the competition scene at all (and don't care too), but are you saying that these "Sound Quality" competitors are winnning SQ competitions with ported/vented enclosures?

yes. look em up.

ported although it does produce more SPL does not have its place only in an SPL truck. the over all design of the enclosure is what will decided the quality of the sound produced. the installation of the equipment is more important then the equipment itself. take the installers institute show car from last years finals. they installed 1 8" SONY sub. that thing sounds better and hit harder then system 5 times the size. they do show cars like that to prove the importance of a proper install. this is the same reason that no one can ever answer the popular question of " how hard will it hit or how will this sound". it is dependant on TONS of factors.

i am currently running TWO kicker L7 15" subs. now i would never enter a SQ competition but I have never had someone get into my truck and not comment on how shocked they were to here 15" L7's sound that good and be so loud at the same time. proper bracing and research into the box design in order to match the T/s specs of the sub your installing is all that is needed to make almost ANY sub sound great,

BTWs nice choices on the equipment in the sig. always been a zapco fan

Again, I don't follow the competitions and I'm very familiar with a proper install and the importance of it (although I get a bit lazy on mine...lol). Even though I have heard guys mention about smaller drivers (i.e. 8") being ported, I'm just on the rule of thumb that with a sealed box you get a flatter response and it's a tweaking nightmare to get a ported box to blend well with the rest of the system (for overall SQ). BTW, I'm not arguing (hope it doesn't sound like that)...just surprised and curious.

Thanks for the compliment! I love Zapco amps!!!! Guys around here would call me the Zapco poster child!!!
