Using the Factory Sub Wiring Harness??
Have a good stiff whiskey with in arm's reach.
I am an electronics and audio idiot. I went through hell trying to wire up the audiophile in my XL. A lot of trial and error, and a lot of posts on here.
There is a bunch of help here in the forum. Do a search prior to doing the install. The info here should have you well prepared when you start snipping wires.
Good luck.

I'm pretty good with electronics and stuff, but I've just had no experiance installing car audio systems. I'm a little worried about how to get wires from behind the receiver to the side so I can run them down the side of the truck. It's little things like that I'm still trying to figure out. I'm going to need about 6 or 7 drinks to get through this install.
Nope, never have. I bought it new and it only has 5000 miles on it. I've been gathering all this equipment since I bought it in December and now I'm ready to put the system in and I'm trying to make sure that I know how to do everything before I even go near trying to install it all. I've learned a lot searching on these boards and at first I didn't think I would ever be able to do it, now I'm thinking that I can maybe pull it off. I'm just not real confident about cutting factory wires, don't want to screw something up real bad and cause problems. I pretty much know what needs to be done, I'm just not real sure how I should approach it.

I'm looking to do an install in my 06 as well. Does anyone know if the audio signal from the sub harness is full range (highs and lows)? I want to send the signal to my EQ which separates the speaker outputs from the sub outputs. It's a Pioneer EQ-6500 with 1 set of RCA in and then front, rear and sub RCA out. As for not cutting the wiring harness to splice in to the speaker wires, could we not just buy Metra part #s 70-5520 and 71-5520-1 to create a "harness extension" so to speak? I've got an e-mail in to them asking this question; I'll report back when I get an answer.
Metra said that their 70-5520 is not fully pinned. I contacted Scosche and they said that their FD23 is fully pinned. Add it with the FD23RB and I should be able to make a harness extension.
Archer, or others, please help. I am in the same situation.
I believe the rear OEM wires to the old OEM amp/sub on the audiophile system are low signal wires (+ and -). There is also a remote turn on wire that i entended to my new amp, and i ran my own new power and ground. my new amp lights up, and seems to be ready to work. I hooked up my sub box the right way to the amp... but i can't get the amp to play the subs no matter what i try.
I have tried, using the two low signal wires and hooking them into a solderless single RCA plug, then run that plug into a female to male Y RCA plug, and then plug the ends of the RCA Y into my amp's low input rca lines... nothing...
I've tried to yse the above situation in numerous combinations of using the + or - wire in many different ways...nothing..
I don't want to tap off the rear door speakers for the high level input, as there is really very very very little bass signal ent to the door speakers since the HU sent the low signals to the old amp and sub,,
HELP!!!! maybe my amp is bad though? it is an EBAY Jenson JXP720.
can anyone provide a way to use the two low signal wires that works!!?? i need to convert two wires (+ and a -) into a left and right RCA input on the amp.

i fixed my problem, using solderless RCA plugs and the + / - wires from the OEm harness by the old rear amp. problem turns out the OEM sremote signal wire only has 8v, not enough to turn on the new amp, so i need to find a new switchable 12v source... no big deal really.. i did also have to bridge the amp, and run the 2 subs in parallel.. because i had 8 ohm subs and a 4 ohm amp.. the sound kind of sucks though.. it's more of a hard hitting low bass, than a noce hollow bass sound.. i played with the level inputs and remote bass input, but i think io need a better amp.. the low signal OEM wires, are really really low signal only, very low.. so your when your sub hits it doesn't even sound that good, or match the rest of the system..
Hey Ohiodave,
I'll be doing the same upgrade shortly... so can you tell me what harness you used to plug into the sub output on the head unit? and then how did you splice the RCA cable onto it? Did you need a line out converter at all between the head unit and the amp? Can you post or send me pics if avaiable?
Thanks!
