I'm starting to lean towards a Kicker 8". A friend of mind is pretty good about building boxes and has offered to build me one...

Check out my other thread about "too much excursion"... It's one of the newer subs with a 1" surround so the cone has way more movement than the crappy sub I had as a placeholder before. Once I fix that I should be good to go though I think...

Wow, much better than Factory Fine-China Papers! Took approx. 30 mins to replace them all (fronts are easy, rears takes the most time).
I'm sure there might be better speakers out there, but was keeping it on a budget. I spent $116.00 / pair with the Ford speaker plug adapter. Total of $232.00 w/tax. I highly recommend replacing the Factory speakers, unless you have the Audiophile system...

Now, I'm looking to add just one sub. To get a box under the rear seat of my 04' Screw is going to be tight and wondering if I'll have enough air space in the box. Looking, with ported boxes, 10" speaker requires 1 cu ft.. And most pre-made boxes are around .65 cu ft.. Which I'm thinking of going with a 8". I'm not looking to rattle my neighbors' windows or anything, just want to get some extra bass to complete the sound.

Have you considered the JL Audio Stealth Box or the MTX T-Form? I spent a good hour talking to the guy at circuit city and he had nothing but great things to say about them. I ordered the MTX unit with the 12" Sub and built in 200W amplifier; I'm hoping to have it Thursday. Here is a couple pictures:

I hope it is as good as it seems!

for boxes for trucks, i recommend www.supercrewsound.com, or if you go to you nearest private car audio dealer he will have magazines with the different types of boxes for trucks, reg, ext, and crew. do not go to bestbuy or circuit city, go to some private little guy who owns is own shop and knows what hes doing, the majority of people at bestbuy are going to have no clue what amps and subs will work in a truck.

Normally I would agree with you 100% - Fortunately my contact at Circuit City (the Dept Manager) came from one of those small shops (Car Tunes). The small shops were out of my price range, they wanted to build a custom box and but a top of the line amp in there. I am not looking to shake the neighborhood, just want some good clean Bass in my music.

I will let you know how it sounds soon as I install it this Thursday/Friday.

It is installed and it sounds great! I still can't believe how hard this little box hits!

BTW - Circuit City's special order system is a joke; was told no longer than 1 week, after 2 weeks I went and got a refund. Bought through Crutchfield who had it to me in 2 days.
