All four locations are 5x7/6x8. Your second question is a tough one. There is no "best" speaker for all people in all situations. If you do a simple upgrade of only the speakers, and are looking solely for something better than stock, then it is unnecessary to get anything other than a nice coaxial(2-way). Getting any speaker of higher quality is really not going to allow you to realize its potential by just using the factory in dash unit. Better speakers require dedicated amplification. Check out some of the better 2-ways such as Boston Acoustics, Pioneer(not the $50 ones at Walmart), MBQuart, Infinity, Alpine, and others. With a speaker wiring adapter to connect to the factory wiring, which is fine for this purpose, one can install 4 speakers in a couple of hours.

The size is 6X8`s for all speakers in a 97 F150. I have pioneer`s in my 97. 3-ways in front 2-ways in rear of my SB.I`m replcing my 2 year old pioneer head unit (DEH-P6600) to a 2006 model(DEH-P7800MP). Will be selling the DEH-P6600 for $100.00 just to get it out of my way.May listed it on here later this week.
