Good Combo? Any problems?
I just purchased a '06 Kicker ZX 750.1 class D amp, and 2 x Kicker CompVX 10" 2ohm subs (1200w peak/600w rms)
I'm going to run both subs off the same amp, which technically would equal out to 375w RMS continuous to both subs.. seeing as the subs are 600w RMS.. will underpowering them this much be of any damage to them? I'm worried I may have purchased a bad combo, or am I just being paranoid?

If you have been reading the thread regarding power and blowing speakers read the last few posts on the 3rd page. As we have been discussing, if you do not abuse your equipment having less power from your amp will not blow your speakers. Pay close attention to setting the gain control. It is there to match the amp to the output signal from your radio, it is not a volume control. To give you an idea, if you have a high voltage preamp radio like 4or5 volts than the gain adjustments would be set low, but if you have a low volt radio 800mv(1000mv would be a volt) or 1volt preamp the gain adjustment would be turned up. The fact that you are asking and you have purchased name brand equipment tells me you will probably not have a problem. Proper install and adjustment is the key.
Thanks, I have a Pioneer Premier DEH-P8MP.. according to the specifications on the website, it has: "Preout Voltage & Impedance -- Hi-Volt (6.5V), 100 Ohm)
Do you know of anywhere I can check to see what my Gain Control should be set at with my HU putting out that much voltage?
I'm really green when it comes to this stuff.. just trying to get it into my head.. so does the Gain control sort of tell the amp how much power to put into the subs? I dont really know what it does

when you have everything hooked up, turn all the levels on your amp that you sub is hooked to all the way down.
I usually start with the gain and you slowly turn the gain up until the sub barely starts to distort, then back down.
Repeat all the steps for all the other output levels on the amp. (Bass Boost etc).
When you are adjusting your other levels, you may start to notice that your sub is distoring again. You simply need to turn the gain down again.
Tuning amps is simple, but it may take you weeks to get to a sound that is satisfying.

Having a deck with that much preamp voltage makes tuning very easy, turn the gains all the way down and your done. That much voltage will drive most amps to full output without adding gain. Check the input spec for your amp and see what it says. Most would say input signal 500mv-6volts the high number would be equal to turning the gain all the way down in the case of 6volts being high your all set and will get full output with probably 85 percent of the volume. If it says 8volts as high than you could turn up the gain a touch but you won't need much.
