Image Dynamics questions...

I want to (eventually) install a sub and amp in my truck...

So far, I think Im going to get the musicmoose box
http://musicmooseaudio.com/ford_f_150a_single.html
and then everyone seems to like the Image Dynamics subs, so I want to get one of their 10's.

My questions:
What is the difference between the IDQ10 and the ID10?
The ID10 is cheaper, and seems more powerful (50-400W RMS vs. 250W), so I am guessing the IDQ is more for SQ than loud?

Also, could someone recommend an amp? I noticed the ID is DVC 4-ohm, while the IDQ is DVC 2-ohm, Im a little confused on the impedance thing.

Thanks

They IDQ is more SQ oriented. Its a very nice sounding subs. The ID line gets louder, and doesnt have quite the SQ of the IDQ. Still a pretty nice sounding sub though.

That box is a little more on the ID side or specs with the .75 cu. ft. of airspace. Mounting depth might be a little bit of an issue. If you take the cover off the back of the ID it should fit.

The ID and IDQ are available in BOTH dual 2 and dual 4 ohm. With the dual 2 you can wire if for a final load of 1 or 4 ohm. With the dual 4, it can be wired for 2 or 8 ohm. It depends on what you want for an amp. The easiest and cheapest would probably be to find a 2 channel amp that puts out 400ish wrms (250ish if you go with the IDQ) in bridged mode. Most of the time that power is rated at 4 ohm, so in that case you would want to go wit the dual 2 ohm. Thats just one option though. You can get a mono amp, most are stable down to 2 ohm, some down to one ohm.

I thought they were both available at DVC 2 ohm and 4ohm, last week I was looking at them on cardomain and it had all 4 of them. I went back today and it only has the setups I listed earlier - ID10 in DVC 4 ohm and IDQ in DVC 2 ohm...there's supposed to be a retailer not too far from here so I might check that out one of these days or give em a call.

In any case, are Pioneer amps any good?
Im thinking of this: http://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOGM5200T
My HU and speakers are Pioneers so I figure I might as well keep going
With the ID (or whatever sub) in a DVC - 2 ohm...

Thanks.

Get a Zapco 350.2/AG350 and a dual 2 ohm (if you are only going w/ 1 sub) wired at a final impedance of 4 ohms. It will work good on both subs...plenty of headroom for the IDQ and/or if you run a balanced line (symbilink) plenty of power for the ID. These amps can be had cheap on Ebay and they are solid amps (I have 2 of them). Also, there are several ID/IDQ's on Ebay as well.

If I got the ID10 and the AG350, would the symbilink be required?

<bump>
Still wondering if the symbilink is necessary if I go with the ID? Or is it just recommended?

I dont believe you need it. You can just use RCA's.
