Well after reading over the instructions a little better, which I should have done before installing....

The instructions tell me that if I am only running 2 speakers off from this amp, which I am. I need to have the amp on 4 channel input.. (even though there are only 1 pair of RCAS...

Here are some pics from the manual.. Sorry if they are bad..

and then I would follow the top row since I only have 2 speakers...

Also for a little background info... I had the speaker wire outputs connected as follows.. + of channel 1 and - of channel 2 for 1 component and + of channel 3 and - of channel 4 for other component...

Also how can I tell whether I am running 2 ohms or 4 ohms.. I want 4 ohms...

You had it running bridged, 240 watts-that explains your 'poof'

Your components are 4 ohm, so your amp was seeing 4 ohm.

yeah thats what I figured... I originally had them wired +- channel 1 and +- channel 2 but no sound was coming out of them... And I am not sure why.. I know the wiring is correct because I tested the wiring with a 9 volt battery and tweeters clicked so I know the wiring is good...

So I called a buddy of mine who was at work at a local stereo shop and he told me to wire them as I stated before and then a min later the infamous "poof"

So I bought a set of the same comps at a very cheap price off from Ebay and I am just going to take the crossovers from that and throw them in my truck... and try it again with the input on the amp at 4 channel and wire it +- channel 1 and +- channel 2..

Hows that sound.. LOL

Thanks for the help guys. Iw ill let you know how it turns out when the crossovers show up...

I would still try putting the switch to 2 channel input and running your comps on either the front or rear speaker outs. All it is doing is allowing you to run all 4 amp channels using only the 2 rca input. You could still drive 4 speakers with full power. If you only have the front comps, then hook them up to the front channels. You can add rear speakers to the rear channels if you want. Everything will run off the single pair of rca's. There is just something strange about running the switch a 4 channel, use only one pair of rca's and the front speaker outputs. Seems like it is almost internally bridging or something. Especially since in that mode you can not use rear speakers.
