hypothetically, if you were building an SQ system...

...what would you put in it? I'm curious as to what the best of the best is out there for SQ. Show winning SQ. If money wasn't an option, what would you put in for HUs, amps, subs, mids and highs?
I realize that opinions vary and it's difficult to tell what is best without listening to them all but I've found going to electronic stores and listening makes me leave thinking they all sound like crap, especially since they don't fine tune the higher end HUs like they could.

Just off the top of my head:

Alpine IVA-D310
Alpine PXA-H701
Arc Audio XXK amps or the new SE amps
Image Dynamics 12" IDMAX subs

Not sure on comps as I have not heard that many great ones.

Let's see, how long before Brypink2 chimes in with Zapco C2K amps, (insert jeopardy theme music here).

But really, money is no object really does not tell you how it will sound. Spend all the money you want and if it is not installed properly, it will not sound good. My Rainbow Contours in the Q Logic kicks sound better than almost anything I have heard. And they cost me $125 brand new. What really matters is what sounds good to you. May take $5000 to get it to sound good to you or may take $1,000.

HU: Alpine F1 9990/H990/C990 combo EDIT: And the M990 for ease of use w/ the H990.
AMPS: Zapco C2K (go figure), or Brax, or MacIntosh, or Butler (for the tubes)
COMPONENTS: Rainbow Reference CS 360.30 active or Platinum CS 275.28 active
SUB: SI MAG D2

This is what I would start off with...but, if money were no object...I see it constantly changing.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the install! LOL

The only reason why I said money isn't an issue is because I didn't want anyone to leave out and makes or models. I know that the most expensive isn't always the best sounding, but sometimes it is. For me (like most people) I don't have an enormous amout of money to spend on truck audio but I am an audiophile and musician so good SQ is very important...Oh, and if I could win a competition or two that would be nice too

Are you sure its dls.com? Nevermind, I found it dls.se

It's actually http://www.dls.se/english/. They have very nice stuff, I had 2 pair of the Iridium 6.5 comps...But I think the Rainbow Reference and Platinums edge them out. You can't beat that CAL28 tweeter IMO.

my boss (at the stereo shop) told me SQ vehicles actually don't sound that great to listen to music with. Is this true?

If Im building an SQ system it better sound good with music!

Like styxnpicks said though-what is CORRECT as far as levels, freq., blah blah, might not be what sounds best to someones ears.

Im trying to do a decent one on the cheap side-
Diamond D5600.2
Diamond D5600.1
Rainbow Pro Van CS265's
Not sure on subs yet (would like to get a SI Mag)
Deck-looking for a higher model Eclipse

Not the best stuff, but its somewhat affordable for me, so its going to hafta work.

That's interesting. Who defines "correct" if not someone with their own tastes of what sounds good? If it sounds different to everyone (which it does) then in an SQ competition it's pretty much whomevers taste is closest to the judges will win, no?

Basically yall are saying the same thing, buy yeah you're right the judges are propablly very partial to certain sounds/companies.

With that being said, I am making jensen+pyle+legacy full system that should sound killer, plus my prefab bandpass box, and it should be full out SQ.

The acosutics of the truck or car's cabin as alot to do with it as well. Along with the quality of the install, not to mention a million other things.

I know I'm not running as flat as I would like.

What about subs? ported, not ported, up, down, left firing? I know bass is non directional but is one better than the other when talking about SQ? Also I understand that it's best to match the area in the box to the sub.
