Installing subs/amp

Hey all, I have two JL Audio 10w0's from my brother's 2003 Silverado that I want to install in my truck (2005 F-150 SCab Lariat). I have the audiophile system in my truck and would like to know how I would install the amp. Am I going to have to tear out all the stock sub/amp wiring out and go through all the regular junk of drilling through the firewall and stuff? Or can I splice wires or something from the stock to use on the new setup? The amp is a Diamond audio 500/1 BTW. Sorry, but I don't really know much about car audio.

Easiest way to install would be to replace the Head Unit too, otherwise you'll need a line out converter. As long as you just disconnected the stock wiring you wouldn't necessarily have to rip it all out, and I believe there should be a couple of grommets on the '05 model in the firewall you can run some wire through.

Try http://www.crutchfield.com I imagine they have some wiring tutorials

I would replace the HU but I'm planning on going with the Eclipse AVN7000 or something similar in the future, so I dont really want to waste 200 bucks on a temporary HU. I dont think it would look too good with the big stock Hu being replaced by a smaller aftermarket one. Time to go read up on some wiring tutorials and hope that I dont blow anything up.

I dont think your going to be able to use any of the stock wiring, esp. the power and ground. So yes, you are going to have to disconnect the stock sub/amp (might be able to just unplug something from the back of the HU, Im not familiar with the audiophile system), and put in the new stuff like a regular stereo-running all new wires, drilling holes, etc (actually you dont need to drill a hole in the firewall, there are a few places you can run the wire through)

Yes, you are going to need a LOC to get signal to the amplifier. And putting in an LOC is probably easier than putting in a new HU

Amp install is pretty much straight foreward.

Just out of curiosity, what model is that Diamond amp exactley? I dont ever remember a model 500/1.
