Stock vs Aftermarket

This is probably a stupid question, but how much better sound will one get by going from stock to aftermarket speakers, specifically the Polk Momo 5x7s or maybe, I can only wish, the Boston Pro50s? Come on, I know there will be a difference, but I gotta say that with the addition of an amp and sub, the stock speakers are pretty clear. Anyway, since I haven't done it yet, I thought I'd just ask. I'll probably install my Eclipse HU, JL 6-channel amp and JL sub (in box unknow at this point) and live with the door speakers until I blow them up or discover how limited they truely are. Your impressions and experiences are certainly welcomed however. Thanks.

There is a world of difference in my opinion, not even a comparison.

BA pro60's
check my galleries I'm using them in the s10 setup. Better clarity better highs and more power handling. Run that jl amp three channel if you can, bridged left, bridged right, bridged sub

Like Blue said, world of difference. It's like comparing Apples and a Giant Cheesecake (or whatever you happen to enjoy immensely).

I swapped head units, from stock single CD to a Kenwood and I thought the stock speakers sounded pretty good. That is till I replaced them with Pioneer three ways. Then I knew how crummy the factory speakers were in my 04 STX.

Yep, even with the new deck, the speakers would still distort a lot, so I put in some JL 2-ways and well, my pants were happy.

I don't think the 6-1/2" Pro60s will fit, will they? I had the system installed in my last truck and they had channels 1-4 going the 4 speakers and channels 5 & 6 bridged to the sub. You're saying there is a better way of doing it? It's rated at 45W RMS x 6 @ 4 ohm or 75W RMS x 6 @ 2 ohm (double that bridged) at 12.5 V and 70 W RMS x 6 @ 4 ohm or 110 W RMS x 6 @ 2 ohm (double bridged) at 14.5 V.

The pro 60's will fit they usually come with a 5x7 adapter. Use channels 1&2 bridged together to run the front left, use channels 3&4 bridged together to run the front right, and use channels 5&6 bridged together to run the sub. Use the rear channels from your radio to run the rear speakers. This will give you a ton of volume with a great front sound stage and you will still have some rear fill from the radio power you can even skip the rears altogether. Just like going to a concert you don't look at the crowd and you don't stand in the middle of the stage you stand in front looking at the stage.
