What to do?

I have 2006 Ford F-150 Supercrew with no room under the back seat. I listen to all types of music, but tend to concentrate on country and hip-hop. I am not concerned with rattling the windows down the block, but I do want good, clean, solid bass. I am considering two options:

1. Two 8” or 10” subs facing up under the seat. Approx. box volume is .5cuft each and allowable mounting depth is 5”. I am concerned about sub excursion into the bottom of the seats and allowable depth.

2. Two 8” (possibly four) forward firing subs. Will be a very tight fit, depth is not a concern, and box volume somewhere between .3-.5 cuft each.

As far as subs are concerned I am thinking Kicker L5’s or L7’s compared to JL’s. I will provide each with power as required.

Any opinions would be very helpful. Thanks.

If all you truly want is good, clean, solid bass... then just go with a high quality single 10" in a sealed enclosure. Then you have room under the seat for your amp too!

An Adire Koda has a 4 1/4 mounting depth, a single Koda 10 with 400 RMS going to it will be perfect. That way you will have enough room for excursion and place for amp under seat. Adire is a SQ sub and will sound better than JL and cost less. JL you pay for name. IF you want clean bass, stay away form kicker solo barics, they are a spl sub and you will not get clean bass.

I have an Adire Koda 10" that I am getting ready to part with. I am replacing with an Arc sub. The Koda is a really good sub. Mine is only 2 months old. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for your comments. I think I will get some foam and see what I can come up with. It may be time to look at other box materials. Has anybody every seen or heard a box made from aluminum? If fiberglass came into play how thick should it be?

I would think that aluminum would be too flexible, unless you went really thick... then super heavy.
Not sure what the resonance qualities would be either...

Might be interesting to see (hear)!
