My Sub Install

After removing my backseat to mount my amp there I decided it would just be easier to mount it under the rear seat where the jack was. There's nothing too good to mount it to behind the seat and I didn't want to worry about it overheating or not being able to get to it easily in case I needed to adjust it or something. I ordered my box from HiFi something or other from ebay. It has a single 10" MTX sub from my old Thunderform in my Ranger. It sounds great! I also made a custom trim piece to go around the amp so it looks like one solid piece under the seat. Now I don't have to look at the ugly amp wires or worry about someone kicking it or getting dirt in it. It's all run by an Alpine 300 watt mono amp.

Looks nice and clean. I hate the way wires just mess up the interior of a truck. In my reg. cab i had mine showing for a little while; then a decided to mount both amps under the seats and now it's real clean. Very nice job

I thought about doing the exact same thing a few months ago. I still haven't gotten around to it yet. One question I have is how much space is there between your sub and the floor? I'm always worried that a sub in a box like that the surround would hit. I don't have any carpet in my truck...just a hard black rubber floor.

The box came with rubber cleats that were about 1-1 1/2 inches tall, so that would be my best guess. I've looked under there while it was on and from what I can tell there's no problem with it hiting the floor.

I would imagine it would be simple to install a vent fan on the side of the box close to the amp. Tard what do you have driving your speakers? Did you mount an amp behind the backseat on the firewall too, or are your door speakers being driven by the HU?
Where did you get that box? It looks sweet and is exactly what I have been looking for since I don't want to compromise footspace and make life miserable for my passengers.

That looks nice. Where are you keeping your jack?

My door speakers are running off the HU.
I got the box from ebay. It was $75 + $25 S&H. I bought it from hifisound or something like that.
EDIT: Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDIO-ENHANCERS-...Qcmd ZViewItem

The amp has some room to breathe from the side and behind the seat, and the spot where the two seats meet. It doesn't really get that hot in there, and besides, if the amp overheats it shuts itself off.

I threw my jack in the toolbox. In all honesty that jack is pretty worthless anyways. My friend hit a curb last week and totally trashed his rim. We couldn't even get the jack out of the truck. We were lucky we could even get the spare down. I'm the fact that it was 4:30am didn't help any, but I think it's a pretty poor design.

Yeah. The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that the corner of the speaker box sticks out ever so slightly at the front corner of the seat. I have to see if I can really ram that thing in there.
