Components?

Can someone please explain where the component crossover is usually mounted? Also, I'm looking to replace my front and rear speakers. Any recomendations for good front and rear speakers? My budget is $500. Thanks.

I usually mount them in the door in and below the speaker hole. I use electrical tape then duct tape to secure them. Good luck!

On an 04-up F150 you can easily put them in the armrests. I put mine there, and there is space both in the front and rear in those armrests.

i would not recommend putting them anywhere in the door on 04+ f150s. water has no trouble getting in there. it is easy to mount them in the kick panels. and run some speaker wire through the gromet which is easily removeable

I mounted mine behind the kick panel. If you need to adjust anything just pull the panel off and you are there. Very easy placement; i just tucked mine under the carpet behind the kick panel.

Thanks for the reply's. Can anyone offer their opinion on a good set of components that will sound good when powered by the stock radio? Thanks.

Look for something with a very high sensitivity rating. You are really not going to see much benefit out of components running them off the stock radio. If you have future plans for maybe adding an amp, I would go with components. Otherwise, look at a nice set of coaxials. There just is not enough power there from a stock radio or even many aftermarket head units to power components.

I'd look at boston acoustics pro60 components for the front doors leave the back stock.

I mounted the x-over for my Infinity components in the arm rest, under the window switch. They sound great but I have a JVC deck, not stock. I put Infinity coaxials in the rear doors and they sound great also.

I mounted my crossovers on the back wall with my amps. You can see pics in my gallery. They wont be there long because I'm selling both pairs of Utopias and going with an active set-up...no passive crossovers.
