Need advice on a good set of components..

Hello guys. I am driving an 04 F150 (style side) XLT. I am looking to get some better SQ out of my stereo.. Right now i am just running everything stock with a factory 6cd/mp3 player I bought off Ebay. Which size speaker will fit int he front with NO modification? Would a 5.25" or 6.5" fit in the front door? Also what will fit in the back doors? I am sorry if this topic has already been run into the ground but I couldnt find what I was looking for with the search. Any help would be great.. THanks

MAtt

Agreed, these polks are badass i just bought them for my truck and they are amazing! Beware though there is a rather lenghty break in period but after that youre good to go. You will also need a 5x7 adapter

Look at DLS Iridium, Rainbow Profi Vanadium, Focal Utopia, Dynaudio and Sea's Lotus just to name a few.

Budget?? There are component speakers from $50 up to over $1,000. How much you are willing to spend will play a huge part in recommendations.

How do you fit 6.5 in the 5x7 doors anyway? Are there any advantages to having 6.5 over 5x7's?

LOL You know me...I set a budget aside (for the most part) and get what I think sounds "good".

Make a MDF baffle/adapter (with a 6.5 cut out) to fit over the 5x7 hole. Most of your "higher end" components are available in 5.5, 6.5, 7 and 8" sizes. Although there are a few mainstream consumer oriented 5x7 components out there that are a direct drop in. But, IMO...they don't compare to the ones I mentioned in the earlier post.

If you have a budget...stick to it. If you can work around a budget, then go listen to the "higher end" components. Do that even if your are on a budget, then go listen to the "mainstream" components. That will help you make your decision.

Ten different members will tell you 10 different opinions and that the components they are using sound the "best", but it all boils down to what you like and are willing to spend on a pair. Good luck.

well I have boiled it down to this deck and these comps and rears, not necessarily from these stores...

Pioneer DEH-P6800MP

ALPINE SPR-57LS TYPE R 5x7 - comps

powered by a Sony 500 W 4 channel amp 50x 4 RMS

ALPINE SPR-57LP 5"X7 - rears

I would search around for some better prices before you pull the trigger. Look on millionbuy.com, cardomain, and others. Crutchfield is usually high but they have good customer service. I would also search for a better amp. You can get a better amp for less. Did you decide you didnt want the round speakers? Or just didnt want the hassle of the adapters? Either way you go it's better than stock.

I still want the 6.5's but I dont want to mess with them not fitting right and adapting them.. Yeah I just used crutchfield as a reference.. I would never buy from them.. very pricey but they have a good site to look at things for.. I bought the Pioneer deck from sounddomain for $210 including all of the installations kits. And I am buying the speakers from Ebay, I can get both comps and rears for $160. As for the amp.. I really dont want to spend over $175 for an amp. I would like to stay with Alpine but there amps can get pricey.. I can go over $175 if I need too but I would like to stay under.. What amps would you reccomend. My comps are 60 W RMS @ 4 ohms.. THanks for your help..

Kicker makes good amps...definately worth getting. Refurbs can be good too, they already have any quirks fixed.
