Sub/Box geniuses.. I REALLY Want to use my existing JL W6 10"s..

I REALLY miss having subs in my vehicle. I have three JL W6 10's sitting in a great box with a fantastic amp in my garage.

I REALLY want to install these in my truck. Even one or two of them would be better then none. I don't mind building my own box.

Is there ANY way to get these in my truck under the rear seat WITHOUT the seat lift? Maybe make a box where the subs fire diagonally or something?

Any thoughts? These are great subs, and best part is that they are already paid for . I'd rather save my money for other things like exhaust, XCal2, etc..

10W6v2? I don't see it happening without a seat lift at a minimum. Then still it will be a tight fit. The mounting depth on the 10W6v2 is like 7" plus you need an extra 3/4" for the pole vent.

Trust me...my last truck (2000 F150) I had a 12W7 at first, but it took up the whole jumper behind the drivers seat. Then I made a box to replace my center console to fit a 10W7 when the baby came, he was #3 and I needed to whole rear seat.

When I was trying to figure out what subs to get for my '05 SCrew, I looked at the 10W6v2 but decided it just wouldn't work. I went with 2 TREO SSi10.22 subwoofers. They sound just as good as the 10W7 I once had and they like power. The added bonus...they have a mounting depth of 5.25"...I jumped on these like crazy.

Sell your 10W6v2 subs and with the money you make, pick up some shallow mounts like Sound Splinter or TREO, those were the 2 on my short list before I chose to go with TREO.

My box is approximately .80 ft^3 per sub and I used the LMI 2.5" seat lift. These subs are power hungry...I have a Viper d2500.1 running them. I just purschased an AudioControl Epicenter for my subs/sub amp to really unleash their ability. I mainly got the Epicenter because my HU is only rated at 2 volt pre-outs.

Umm some guy on here a while back had three 10w6s or 10w6v2s under the rear seat, but he definately had a seat lift. Why couldn't you just use some wood blocks, or something along those lines to lift the seat up to save on $$. You could always sell them, and get 8 tangband 8s, j/k. Ok, atleast 6 of them would do.

How many inches do you have between the floor and bottom of seat, and how deep are those w6's?

More info on the tangbands? I'm on their website, but not finding much info about them?

If I can't pull this off with the JL, then I've been thinking about a few 8's.. 4 of them or so if I could find the right ones with the right amount of punch to them.

I'll have to take some measurements when I get home and advise.

I love the way my truck sits right now interior wise.. REALLY don't want to do the seat lift (in other words, if I have to, then I'm not interested in using the JL W6's). I have poor visability out the rear window as it is with my new tonneau cover.. raising the seats 2 or 3 inches would make it that much worse.

So these Treo subs fit pretty easily? Never heard of them.. Nice kick?

i have 2 10" memphis audios under my rear seat. the box i got is for a 2003 F250/350. it fit under my seat just fine and had to do 0 mods to the seat. now as for the amp, i just have it sitting behind the middle seat. its a little to big to mount to my truck until i change out the front 60/40 seating arrangement.

Yeah, I like them. I was a bit sketchy at first but heard some at a shop and was impressed. They will fit in a regular "under the rear seat" box for our trucks, but utilize some legs to raise the box up as much as you can so the surround don't slap on the carpet. They have a nice beefy foam surround like the W7s. If you use the regular box (w/o a seat lift) I would throw some polyfil in the box as well. My box is about 1.5" taller then the regular ones and it gives me about .80 ft^3 per sub.

I have dual 2ohm...they have 2 or 4 ohm (SSi 10.22= 2ohm/ SSi 10.44= 4ohm). They are rated at 750w RMS...not sure what they peak at. Shouldn't worry about peak...just RMS...that's what you want to match your amp to.

Oh, and about sound...if it means anything to you...all my friends that hear my system are automatically drawn to my subs and ask what they are. Next, they ask where can they get some.

Brypink,
im thinking about going with a kicker kx2500.1 for 2 ssi 10.22's. Do you think that'll be to much power for them?

Link to the tangband 8s: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=264-854 , They are similar to the re8s, but have one of the larger magnets for any 8s that i have seen.
