Component Tweeters Not Fitting

I just put in my Alpine Type R Component system in my 04 Scab. I got everything installed and wired up and went to put the plastic cover pieces back on and the top part won't snap in because the tweeter is sticking out too much. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they did about it. I'm going to try to sand (with my dremel) a little bit of the inside material away and see if I can get some more room for it to fit. I was also thinking of just cutting the hole out in the plastic piece and covering the whhole plastic peice with some kinda of thin material (like panty hose) but I'm not sure if it'll work. Any ideas or suggestions???

Not sure about 04, but my 05 had a hole already there for a tweeter. I just had to use the dremel and make the hole slightly bigger for my tweeter to fit into. It all then nicely fits behind the black plastic cover. Are 04s that much different? I am in Orlando, so if you need some help, let me know.

yeah, My 04 is the exact same way. I just dremeled the opening out a little bit. The problem is that it sticks out too far and the plastic piece won't snap back onto the door panel.

Is there some way to put a spacer around the tweeter behind the panel to reduce the distance that it sticks out? Maybe I'm not understanding the problem exactly.

Can you possibly take a picture of how you have them mounted, as I have 1 Type-R tweeter mounted in one of my doors (awaiting replacement to my RE tweeter) and it fit fine. So I am curious as to how you are mounting them.

Where is this tweeter hole? I popped my front speaker covers off and didn't see anything. I also have the XL work truck package so there might not be any.

I had this issue as well. I had to get a 2" hole saw and blew a larger hole through there. The tweeters then rested in the spot and cover fits.

I just put up some pics in my gallery and one is in there of the tweeter. I am thinking of just taking the metal grill off the tweeter b/c it looks like it will clear if that is removed..

Well, another option is to take off the entire door panel and mount them from behind the panel somehow. that way, only the tweeter itself will come through the hole and not have to worry about the entire tweeter housing.

I used RE Audio RE6.1 components for the front and am currently just running the stock rears off the HU. The front speakers and subs are powered by an MTX MXA600.4 Amp (100x2 and 350x1).

I put my tweeters up the in door section where the vents are , the section in the door that covers the window based vents and the attachments for mirror. Great imaging up there.
