JL does make a decent product but not the greatest. If that's what you chose and you like it Great. It's your truck and you get what you want for it. he was simply stating that there are better products out there that cost a lot less. With JL you are paying for the product but much more for the name. Too each his own. That is what these forums are for though: questions, comments, and suggestions. GA FOO was simply suggesting.

Is there anyone as high as Waco as low as San Antonio or along the way on I-35 that has a 04-06 supercab jl stealth box. I am looking to get the box but I am debating I am coming from a car box that use to have 2 12"s so I want to make sure that it is worth it otherwise I'll have to do something else.

If you knew what you were doing that $2400 would have gone a lot further, but your right it isn't my money,so.... as long as your happy, than I am too.
Dude, you dont even realize what your saying. What other sub and box combo's are engineered specifically for the F150, F150 SCab or the F150 SCREW by model years? And they arent generically produced, so one fits all makes and models. Now if you really want to spend all the money and time and effort in creating your own custom box, that is form fitting and lite, optimizes the engineered space under the seat, go for it. Quick question, lets say your in a wreck, you gonna give your insurance agent a list of materials used? Whose going to pay for the labor? Time spent engineering the box. All this to replace your wrecked box? Me, I will submit them the invoice from my dealer.... Also, before you knock it, maybe you should look up the stealthbox, and see the reviews by people who make their living off of audio competitions.
Prices....yeah I paid good money for my stuff, paid professionals who did a very good job. This shop has done alot of very high end custom installs that has won numerous competitions. Its called convience. Sure I could have had Best Buy, Car Toys or Tweeter do the install, but again I dont shop at Wally World either, it is again called convience. Im sure I could have looked for a coupon to save a few bucks too, or ordered offline....Again, its called convience and a business's reputation versus someone off the net that is probably selling you stolen or rejected merchandise.
If you want cheap, go right ahead....Im not gonna stop ya...Your choice

I havent heard the Box inside the car but the dudes at cole hooked one up in their sound proof show room thing and it sounded far from "cheap" or inferior.
Opie is right there isnt allot of room and I think the JL engineers know there crap seeing as they build some top of the line equipment.
Opie the guys at Cole were talking about the JL Reps truck they did and the way they described it it sounded like it must be something spectacular.
Im excited as hell bout the set up that im looking at and hopefully will get it in right before christmas.

He, again, is not saying that JL is cheap. He is saying that there are plenty of superior products out there that were available for the same price. "Cheap" was never mentioned. JL stealthbox is nice and fits the truck perfectly. It is "convenient." A lot of people on here are on this forum for ideas of custom stuff that they can own their own. There is a different feeling when you accomplish something on your own. I had two 12's in my old truck and didnt take care them, threw them around. In my new truck i built my own boxes and installed everything myself. I appreciate it more and I have a good feeling knowing that i did it. Im not saying you dont appreciate your stuff but some people get "tingly" inside when they accomplish on their own. Some people just dont have the drive or the time to do it on their own, so they go the convenient route. Either way a nice system is a nice system

I understand what your saying but do not see your connection with "doing it yourself". Myself i wouldnt want to nor would i know how to install the entire system (tend to stick to mechanical things) but like u said a great system is a great system and the JL stealthbox is a quick NICE alternative to overdone custom boxes etc.

First off i know exactly well what a stealthbox is, the only problem I have is that your paying more for a name rather than just for the sub/box combo. I realize there arent many options for "under the seat set ups" and that is not really an ideal environment for the subs to go. I realize that as far as conveinence and performance go, many choose to use them, because they do sound decent. But why not get a better sub and a custom box and have something unique for a change, for around the same cost? Also box calculations are simple math and there are plenty of port calculators online to use. Honestly the only respect I have for JL is dub7, and most of their amps, there products are just too cliche and over hyped. Where did you get the word "cheap" from, if you cant tell I have pretty high expectations/ requirements when it comes to anything audio related.

*important* Remember the People making their living off audio comps, make their living by being salemen and persuading people to buy whatever product they carry. I dont think you see any of those car audio competitors using a w3v2, or any that win atleast SQ or SPL comps.

I know everyone has their own preferences, and does their own thing, what ever they like/appreciate. But you can't assume some one doesn't know what they are talking about just because they dont like a product or a company. People like me arent cheap, they just appreciate buying higher quality products, knowing something about them, and buying the product not a name or company.

#2. Anyone have a good place to hide the jack inside the cab? I was going to mount it under the passenger seat, but it wont work. I think the only way would be to create a new bracket to mount it sideways. I think the ultimate hiding spot would be under the console, but from what I hear, there is limited space there to create a spot.
Any suggestions?
Thanx!

Again some people are missing the whole point.....this thread was not created for people to knock a particular product. I had a question for a JL Stealthbox for a 04-05 SCab. Someone asked if I liked it, and told them yes. Told them where I had mine installed by professionals. I had no interest in creating a system setup by myself. Could I do it yeah...but like I have said...convience. If you look, its mentioned about a 'budget system' by someone. If I cared about a budget....I wouldnt ask a very well known professional installer to mess with my truck. I also would be looking on ebay and for the cheapest installer there was to have the system installed. I would be doing the calculations for a perfect box, buying foam to get a mold to pour fiberglass over for the perfect sounding system. Hell....I might go find me a Kmart to find me a blue light special if I was on a budget. Everyone is entitled to their opinions yes....However dont knock another persons choice of choosing convience. I have worked very hard to be able to choose what I want without having to worry about a budget. Is it my fault that I get paid a very nice salary? Nope...Is it my fault people choose not to take convience over working many hours designing a system from scratch? Nope. Whoose is fault is it that I choose to spend 10 yrs of my life in the Army defending the right for someone that never served in the military to form an opinion... No ones...It was my choice.

Fx...koolbeans.. If you want still, like I said I live in that immediate area and it wouldnt be a problem if you wanted to hear what it sounds like. The one they showed you was probably my old sub that was made for a SCREW. Yeah they did say that truck sounded great, he put in xr570 CSi up front and I think xr570 CXi in the rear and then mounted the tweeters for the front speakers in that side panel by the mirror. Plus a clean sweep. I wanted the stealth look, otherwise would've went that way myself. Also I dont listen to the mp3 player in the truck. Lil old fashion yet and like the CD's. My Ipod is for the gym.

Nobody is knocking you or your convenience package, he was simply suggesting something. These forums are for suggestions and once a thread is opened it is up for suggestions. He might have been out of line directing his statement towards you but he may have been suggesting what he did, so that anybody else that came to this thread wouldnt feel obligated to get a stealthbox. These forums are for ideas, suggestions, and criticizing. It's all in good fun and for the good of the F150's Everybody here is here for a reason and it's for the love of our own personal trucks. Dude from what it sounds like you take great pride in your truck and if I had 2400 dollars to pour into mine, you better believe i would. But im a student and I just throw a spare 200 bucks here and there but I still love my ride. Everybody here is unique and that's what makes it a great forum. Later man

chris, your right. maybe im out've line, but this thread wasnt about suggestions on a system or what someone did to create a system. It again was about JL stealthbox, and could you enclose the area where the jack was, that now held the amps and not loose anything from the ported end of the stealthbox. To me, a new thread should've been created to criticize a particular product or offer suggestions on what someone should use for a 'budget system'

So....back to what we were ORGINIALLY talking about...Did you get the boxed in under the passenger rear? What did you end up doing with your jack? I'm anxious to see how your mod turns out covering up the amp in the rear.

Basically created it with mdf and some veneer wood. Its at the shop now getting the carpet installed with some JL logos on it. The frame pictures are up, tommorow I should have the amp cover tommorow and will post pictures of the final results.
