2004+ Door Speakers

Im looking for new door speakers all the way around in my SCREW. Im not sure if I want to get componnents or coaxles. Im looking for something that will be loud, sound better than factory, not distort at high levels, and that I have the option to amp them at a later date. I also have a Eclipse AVN5435 for a headunit if that makes any difference. Im going to be installing them myself so Im curious as where and how crossovers install? Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

If all thats holding you back from componenets is not having a place to mount the tweeter or how to mount it then just get a set of convertible components where you have the option of mounting the tweet over the mid. As far as crossovers, most brands have two smaller ones, one for each speaker, but other brands like PG have one larger crossover for both speakers. For two smaller crossovers, ive seen them mounted close to speakers in the door on most occasions. I guess the one larger crossovers just mount with the amp. But either way components are definately the way to go.

I went with some Kenwood KFC1300P 5.25 components up front and the Kenwood KFC1300 component/coaxials (built in crossover but the tweeter isn't cut through the woofer, it's mounted to the basket) in the rear. I mounted the front components crossover under the window switches:

You can also buy a set of Q Logic kick panels and install components. That way, you do not have to run wires thru the doors and you can mount the crossovers any where you can inside the cabin. I mounted mine in under the center console panels.

Im not sure which route I want to go right now because if I get a 2 set of componnents, I still want to buy another set of tweeters. So maybe it'd just be easier to get a 2 sets of coaxles and buy 6 tweeters? So many choices!

I'd like to see some pics of those Q Logic kicks. I had some in a Navigator and the quality was crap and you have to give up your e-brake. I am interested to see how they look in the new trucks. Heck, post some pics of the whole system.

Never mind on the pics, I saw them on you other thread. The kicks look good! Can you still use the e-brake though? And if I were you I would put the rear screens in the headrests. Especially since you have a sun roof. It would be way easier to replace the headrests if you decide to get rid of the truck and take the screens with you, and I just think they look a hell of a lot cleaner and better. Try to go with the Kenwoods so that the interface might be better (maybe the remote from the ddx might work on them).

I am running MB Quart 6x8's in the doors and love them. I am more about the sound quality than anything else and these speakers sound great.

Check my install. JL Audio is the top of the line. I challenge anyone who says different.

I'm curious as to what you mean by "top of the line". Do you mean the best of all car audio period, nothing better, etc...?

The W7 doesn't exactly fit under the rear seat of my Screw. Thanks for pointing that out to me though, since I never even said the JL stuff I had is top of the line. I do however believe the amp I'm running has had just a few good reviews
