Wow, and what should I do.

Welp, lately Ive been workin on the stereo a little bit, the 2 AA Atlas's sound F'n awsome but Ive kinda been wanting more output lately (I used to be all about SQ but Im kinda turning into a "sound good and get loud as he!!" guy lately. I had them in a sealed box, 1.8 cu.ft. per sub and the other day I stuck in a port, box is now tuned to 30 Hz. Still sounds killer, just not a very big increase in SPL, not as much as Id like. Im sure its a como of the box (a little small for the Atlas's ported) and the fact that the Atlas is just a SQ sub and isnt even intended to get very loud.
So as I was doing this I was like "hey, lets take my old Eclipse and stick it in this ported box" The Eclipse is a DVC 4 ohm, amp puts out 600wrms at 2 ohm, so I decided to be safe and wire it series, it was probably gettin 200wrms. Sounded good as usual and bumped pretty decent. But I wanted more, I ripped it out, wired it for 2 ohm and stuck it back on the amp, didnt turn the gains down any, left everything on the HU the same, and slowly upped the volume on the HU. The max I usually listen to is 45 on the HU, I got it up to there and DAYUMMMM, talk about impressive. This dinky little thing gets darn near as loud as teh 2 Atlas's sealed, and sounds darn good doin it. I had to back off a little, I could tell it was stressing some (the eclipse is rated at 250 wrms lol) but jeez, I was grinning from ear to ear-impressive. I wanged on that thing for 30 minutes and it never skipped a beat. It stressed a little on some bass heavy songs when cranked, but it took the 240% of its rated power like a champ. I was even bing a little stupid, not caring a whole lot if I blew it.

So, now, after this experience I think Im ready for another upgrade. This time Im thinking of cutting the divider out of my box, sealing up one of the holes for a 12, and sticking one good 12 in there. Ill have about 3.7ish cu. ft, will be tuned to about 30ish Hz, to play with. It will be running of the D5 that I have (600wrms@2 ohm, its a Diamond D5 so in reality you might as well say 700ish wrms@2 ohm)

Gosh the desicions. Im thining Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection. I wont have the SQ, but thats expected going from a purpose built SQ driver in a sealed box to a sq/spl sub in a ported box.
Boy, I tinker with my stereo to much. Of course this will only happen if I can find someone to buy my Atlas's. And hopefully the money I make on the Atlas's will be enough for the one 12 I want. Hoping to break even on the price, heck maybe even make some money

Ahhhh. So that was my day. lol

AV 12 www.aespeakers.com only needs 500 watts and should get loud with a decent amount of excursion. Or look for an id max on ebay.

Lol, I was actually thinking about an IDMAX but I dont think I have enought mounting depth, them bishes are like 8-9 inches deep IIRC

For new, IA is all I can think of for under 200 bucks.
Maybe a RL-P.

I was thinking Brahma too, but they are to much. Heck, Ive had so many ideas run through my mind I dont know what Im even thinking about half the time.
I dont even know if Im going to do this yet.

Anyone wanna buy some Atlas's?? 200 bucks plus shipping??

Ill sell you my avalanche for 200. Ok i lied. Seriously though, what if you got two AV 12s, i know that would be 300 but my god. Also i know for a fact that you can get an Oz Audio Matrix elite for 150 plus shipping on ebay, 25mm xmax/700 watts. And, call AA and ask Chad if he has any B-stock/returns for AVA 12s, that he could let go.

You will not be dissappointed with an IDMAX. Or look at the Diamond TDX. These are two of the best subs I have ever heard. I owned a 12" IDMAX and a 10" TDX. I would still have one if it would fit in my installs. I am hoping to go with an IDMAX in our 2005 Mustang if it will fit the enclosure from Scosche. They are two of the best SQL subs out.

Yeah, Im really wanting to get an IDMAX now Im thinking.

Ive never had any experience with the IDMAX (another big reason I want to try one out), so Im still trying to find out how loud one of these puppies can get.

What kind and how big of box did you have yours in Dconder? And what were you feeding it for power? I want it to get loud SQ with ***** rocks

I think the most power I ever ran to the IDMAX was a JL 500/1. I used a sealed box of about 1.25 cubic feet. It was in the trunk of my Acura TL and it was awesome. It was more than enough bass for me and sounded awesome doing it. Now the TDX, I had a ported box made for it. I am not sure on the specs but, the box was maybe 1 cubic feet. I ran it on a Memphis Belle with 1,000 watts @ 1 ohm and Holy Crap. That thing sounded so good it was scary. My installer said he had never done a single 10" sub that sounded that good and would get that loud and clear. It was probably as much or more impact than the 12" IDMAX in the sealed box. The IDMAX is fantastic and I think you would love it.

Heres the oz audio: http://cgi.ebay.com/OZ-AUDIO-MATRIX-...QQcmdZViewItem and the specs: http://jti-innovation.com/oz/oz_prod_matrix_elite.htm

Or you could always just drop like 250 and get the rl-p, but ive seen new id maxes on ebay go for like 220, so i think you have atleast a few options.

Heres the results b/n diamond and ID max :http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=15791
