Im looking to buy some speakers for my supercrew, I don't want to spend a fortune right now. I just need something that won't distort at high volumes with my headunit and that is decent. I also want the option of adding an amp to them at a later date. Im looking in the range of $150-200. Can someone help me?

 

I cant beleive you still have the stock speakers in your truck. The way you are I thought you would have changed them a long time ago. Do you have any subs?

I am also interested in upgrading my stock speakers. I have already added a 10" Kicker Comp VR in a musicmoose box. ANy suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I also don't think I want to run an amp to them.

 

Well Thumper it's kind of a delimma. If u plan on amping ur speakers later on down the road then i would suggest a nice set of 6.5" components. But if u buy those and only run them off of ur HU then they wont sound too good. The rule i usually follow is to only amp component speakers (not coaxials, 3-ways, etc.).

If it were me i would go ahead and buy a nice set of components.....
Alpine Type X 6.5" comps
JL XR 6.5" comps
RE Audio RE 6.5" comps..............just to name a few. And i would buy a nice 2-channel amp to run any of those. Something that puts out around 75w x 2.

Then for ur rear speakers i would just buy any regular speakers (non-components) and run them off of ur HU for rear-fill.

I love the way the kicker sounds. I listen to all sorts of music and it sounds great with everything from country to hip hop. I am running the Kicker KX450.2 amp to it so it plenty of power to max out the sub.

I was just thinking I might as well upgrade the door speakers to further enhance the sound

Boston Acoustics, for the money they are the best speakers out there. I have owned many pairs, and I currently use the Pros for my competition system. I have 6 1/2 components in the front with a fabricated bracket to replace the factory 5x7s.

 

One more thing... they sound great using deck power and have the capabilities to be amped if you so choose. I currently run about 200W to each channel.

 

i got a good deal on the polks (db570) at circuit city a couple weeks ago, i got a set of four for $150, they were buy one get one half off!! they sound great

 

You could just replace the front speakers with some alpine type r, polk, or infinty coaxes and run them off the head unit, and fade out the back speakers. Then if you want something more buy an amp and components and move the coaxes to the back, for rear fill or better yet sell them.
