Smile Subs and box

I would like to put subs and an amp in my 2002 F150 4x4 SuperCab but dont know what type of subs will fit under the back seat and what size box to fit in. Anyone know any good brand subs that i can buy, and is it better to make a box or to buy one factory made?
Thanks for the help

Colin

I have a Kicker L7 10" sub in mine (sounds nice)

and I would recommend buying a professional box unless you feel really sure about your box building... in that case you will be able to build one to fit your 'specific' needs

Do you have a picture of your truck with the subs in them? Do you know the specifications of the box they put in. Did you just put it in yourself or did you go to a store like Car Toys and get it put in ?

I would reccomend scrolling through all of the posts down from this one, with a similar topic in the heading and reading all of the info posted in those posts. This is a popular topic so it shouldnt be too hard to find some older posts.

Umm usually a seat lift is required and usually people go with dual 10s/8s with a mounting depth of less than 5.5 inches. Really i dont know any more than that because i have a reg cab. Check out these links www.mooseaudio.com , www.supercrewsound.com, www.subbox.net, www.proboxrocks.com . Maybe these sites will have the dimensions you are looking for. Hope this was helpful.

Subs and Box 02 F150 EC

Colin,
You can put either one or two 10s under that rear seat of your Supercab. You won't have tons of air space but I recommend not going over .6 per sub. I good and affordable one is Powerbase. They perform extremely well and you get plenty of "thump" for you buck. JL Audio has nice ones as well...just depends on how much money you want to spend.

There are plenty of sites online that explain how to make a box (hell, even mine), but I always say, time is money and my time is valuable. Unless you have a few weeks and alot of patience and raw materials to mess around with, it will most likely be easier for you to just have one made.

As far as more specific specifics, you will need to check around. I recommend choosing a box you like and then fitting the subs to that criteria. Many people do it the other way around and then they are screwed. You have your heart set on 12 inch Infinity subs. They look great! Like a drum kit filled with milk and it's hypnotic to watch. But then you find out your vehicle can't accomodate that subwoofer, let alone one in an enclosure. Or else you have to wedge it somewhere behind the seat where no one can see it. Either way, it's just easier to start with the box...gives you more to work with.

Peace Out!

i still need to lift my back seat about an inch with wood blocks or whatever else... because the L7 is actually in a truck box and is just downfiring behind the passenger side... doesnt fit like I want it to just yet because truck boxes dont really fit 'nicely' under the rear SuperCab seats... but it WILL be awesome when it's done! =-p I'll try to get some pics though

ZeeBo Lift

ZeeBoGuy,
You can use wood pieces and long screws to get your lift on but what you should do is get a High Rider Lift Kit. They have just expanded their line to lift Ford models from 1973-2005. You can get as much as 10 inches under your seat. More than enough room for your truck box.

I'm curious to see how it works out. Definitely post some pics for us.

Party On, all weekend long!

Zeeboguy - I went with a single 10" Polk Momo under my seat. No lift kit needed. Works great for me. Have a look here
