JL Audio StealthBoxes
I am thinking about adding a JL Audio Stealthbox to my 2001 F-150 Supercab, I currently have the following system installed.
HU- Pioneer DEH-P750MP
Speakers- JL Audio TR570-CXi
Amps - Alpine MRP-F240 x2 ( amps are installed under the passenger side of the
seat in the supercab part)
The reason I'm thinking about going with the Stealthbox is that I to continue to be able to the full use of the supercab rear part, as in being able to have friends sit on the seats.
What are the pros and cons of the Stealthboxes and is there another option that I could go with.
I Thank everyone in advance for any info that they can give me

JL Stealthboxes are really good. Always have been. However, they are a bit pricey. They do fit perfectly in most cases but, there are other options that are less expensive and can sound awesome. Musicmoose, SuperCrew sound, and proboxrocks are three that offer custom boxes. I spent around $300 for a Musicmoose box and an Adire Audio Koda sub and it sounds great. Excellent SQ setup. The JL box will run you upwards of $500-600 I believe.
might try subbox.net too or i saw some awesome boxes on ebay that have an additional hole cut with another piece of particle/fiber board on top so it allows for a larger magnet and they are carpetted. i think they ran like 150 ish on ebay and subbox.net I have no idea some people had problems with the customer service back when i was looking at them but the boxes were prime from what i recall (as far as mass produced boxes can be ) Probox have a logo on them and the JL stealth boxes while expensive (outragious) you get what you pay for.

where's the best place to get one that's not retail price?
I'm thinking of pairing one with a JL 500/5 amp as soon as I can confirm it'll fit behind my seats against the rear wall
thanks

I have two 8's in my stealthbox. I would find one on ebay, there is usually a couple on there. You should use at 500/1 amp, and If your going to run your whole system off of one amp I wold recommend AT LEAST a 600 watt amp. I have a PPI 600 watt amp power my system, but I read that PPI rates their amps with 4 ohms of resistance and at RMS power not Peak. So I dont know the peak power of my amp. I'll tell you what though, my system sounds awesome!!

You have a few options that I'm aware of.
1) Behind the rear seat back (take the back of the seat off and mount them on the fire wall)
2) Mount it under the passenger seat
3) Mount it in the dash under the stereo
4) If you have a flow through console / Console mount it in there.
Thats all I can think of at the moment. But if you search for "amp location" you should find quite a few things about where people have mounted them. Maybe even some pictures.
JLAudio makes very nice gear. The stealthbox is no exception. Be sure if you get one to use it as it should be and don't pretend it is a pair of 12W7s in a custom box. It is what it is. If you go around comparing it unfairly to some custom enclosures with massive subs, then you will not be happy with it. For quality, tight bass, it's a winner. If you look to shake the earth and cave in your chest, it's not.
I too have been looking at the JL Stealthbox but cannot find a local dealer in my area. According to what I've been told, JL doesn't warranty anything sold via the internet. Any recommendations on where I could find one? (even disregarding the lack of warranty)
Thanks
