Prices for single cab boxes?

I went to a local audio shop to get a single cab box for my two 12s. Well, they recommended me getting two seperate boxes. They said that each of them would cost $140. Nothing special. Look like very cheap boxes to me. Is that a high price or not?

140 each is INSANE. DO NOT buy those. I could MAYBE see 140 for both, but that would still be pretty crazy.

Get some somewhere else, or make your own.

If you know the specs for your subs a truck box for them would be easy to make with just basic wood tools. If you dont want to build one hit the local sound shop. They will have a local shop that builds them. But it very easy if you have the specs.

You should spend 40bucks tops on a box ( in materials).

Thanks guys......
I figured it was too high. But, I've always bought my boxes used, so never knew how much a new one cost. I would defintely build one if I had the time. But, I'm short on that, and short on space. I'll just keep looking around until I find one for a good price.

kuijo- good link!

Well it sounds like what they were trying to sell you would fall along the lines of boxes like these: http://ieditcart.com/soundcube/cart/...&product_ID=68 , http://ieditcart.com/soundcube/cart/...13003547573456, and http://ieditcart.com/soundcube/cart/...13003547573456.

The price on these boxes is hard to beat as the price is for a pair, but i can not comment ont he quality and notice the 5/8 mdf instead of 3/4, if that maybe a conern for you or not. But i would only buy one if they fall in the reccommended sealed app for you subs.

Yep, they looked just like those. Not sure if the dimensions were the same though. But, I'm sure not enough difference to make it worth 100 dollars more.
