Audiophile sub

Has anyone tried to put a different sub in the factory box powered by the factory amp?

I tried putting a JL Audio 8" sub in the factory box, but I had a new amp. That wasn't giving me the bass I wanted, so I installed a Stealthbox with a 10". If you were going to use the factory sub, I would stick with what it came with.

What did it do, i am not looking for more bass, just deeper tighter base. I have had 8, 10, 12,and 18's so i know what to expect just wondered how the jl sounded, was it better sound quality. This is my daly driver "beater" so i dont want to do too much. I have other cars for a real system.

Sorry for the delayed response.

The JL was definitely tighter and more controlled, but after I changed my other speakers, I wasn't getting enough low end. It was like it just couldn't keep up and it was trying to hard. The factory one was too sloppy, and the JL was more controlled with less sound. 10" is perfect.

Too Deep???

I tried doing the 8'' JL Audio sub swap into the factory box and the JL Sub is too deep. How did you get it to fit in there??

Please let me know.

Yes, it is to deep. You have to cut a piece of 3/4" MDF and place it in between the box and the sub.
