The Audio guys recommend Pioneer Premiers?

I was trying to decide between Alpine and JL Audio 5x7s (as seen in a previous thread) but I was thrown a curve ball today. I went to my local car audio place where I'm going to have my head unit and speakers installed and they told me nothing sounds better in new F150s than the Pioneer Premier 6x8s. I remembered them as being yellow so I believe these are the ones.

What do you guys think about these speakers? I remember someone recommending these on here a while back while I was researching for my stereo that I'm finally getting! Thanks for the help.

Better Sound

If you want the best sound you need to go with component speakers, byfar better. They sell 5x7 or 6x7 components or you can get adapter plates that will allow for 5 1/4'' or 6 1/2'' speakers. I have Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's which are the 6 1/2 inch option. These are much more pricey than what you are looking at but there are many more less expensive component options.

Do you have any plans to use separate amps? If you do, the speaker choice can be a bit more involved. If not, I wouldn't spend a lot of extra money on something too exotic because using a head unit as the only amplification will not be enough to let you realize the differences that really good speakers have to offer. Some speakers NEED good amplification to really come to life. HUs just don't cut it. I would say the Premiers would be fine. If you are interested in possibly the best bargain going right now, Crutchfield has Alpine Type-R SPR-574A for $69.99. Full Alpine warranty, regular price is $200. They would be great with a HU. They only need 8-35 watts.
