Alpine or JL Audio 5x7s?

Hey guys, I just ordered an Alpine 9825 head unit for my truck and now I'm trying to decide what speakers to pair with this deck. I'm torn between Alpine Type R 5x7s and JL Audio TR570-CX 5x7s. Here are the links:

Alpine: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12074

JL Audio:

I know these will both be good sounding speakers, but what would you guys recomend I use with this deck? I have had a couple people recomend that I match the Alpine head unit with Alpine speakers for the best results, but I also know people that swear by JL Audio products, and I've narrowed it down to these two. Please give me your reccomendations!

Do you have the opportunity to listen to both of them at the same time? I would say that either product would be satisfactory. They are both good companies and have good products. I have had the Alpine Type S speakers and thought they sounded good. I have also had JL subs and they sounded really good also.

So, my recommendation would be to try to listen to both. If you can't tell which one you like, pick the one that is cheapest.

also say listen to the two if you can..the alpines i know- they have a really full sound to them- theres alot of bass that comes through if you compare them to like kenwoods or so- sound pretty nice. dunno about JL's, Im running MBQuarts off my alpine deck, alpine amp. if you're buying good quality speakers like alpine r components, or jl components, i wouldnt worry about brand matching...

I just installed the Alpine 9825 HU. It is awesome. I also added the Alpine iPod adapter to it and makes the HU even more functional for me.

Crutchfield has Alpine Type-R SPR 574A for $69.99 on clearance. Regular price is $200. Full Alpine warranty and Crutchfield's service is second to none.

Just ordered them last night 97f250. I can't wait to hear my system. I know the deck will be awesome, and the speakers are right in the RMS range I want, so I think it will be pretty good. I'm wondering if I'm going to need a sub though!

Just some thoughts of mine based on many years of experience. Subs are a necessity for reproducing the full frequency spectrum. There's no way around that. However, it comes down to the wants and needs and budget of the user as to what they can and will do. We're all different in the importance we place on audio enjoyment, and thus how far we will go in the endeavor in expense, extent of installation, etc. Some people are eternally happy with a stock system, while others are at the other extreme. So at this point in your particular instance and with the knowledge you have, get what makes you happy. It will certainly change in the future as you grow and learn. I've been at this for over 30 years and I've got amps being modified right now getting ready to redo my system. It will not ever end for some of us. The main thing is to make your system what YOU want it to be.

97F250, I hear ya on the sound quality! Although I'm no expert about car audio, I've played the electric guitar for about 7 years now and I'm constantly buying new stuff to achieve the EXACT sound I want.

As far as subs...I've never been a huge fan of loud thumping subs. They always make me feel crappy (headache, etc) when I ride in a car with them. However, I would like to run just one sub to give a little thump and thickness to my bass frequencies. I was thinking of a JL Audio 10W0 sub (125 watts RMS). I figured I would run it with a generic truck box behind my seats (regular cab). I have a Jensen 300 watt amp that I've never taken out of the box. I got it from an electronics store on clearance for 30 bucks ($99.99 when it came out hahaha!) It's a 2 channel but I think they can bridge that on low frequency right? I'm just floating this idea to see what you think. Thank you for your help; those speakers saved my gas budget this month!

BalogUK,
Can you control the alpine amp from the alpine head unit?
I've been looking at an alpine mp3/CD deck with the alpine mono sub amp.
