Talking who else has rewired there speakers

i have an 04 screw.i was having some issues with my amp (sx5750 5 channel) getting hot. the way i originally had it wired was from the amp to behind the head unit. i hooked to the speaker wires there and just used factory after that. so i decided to rewire the door speakers. and what do you know there are plugs there at the doors instead of just free flowing wire thru a loom. aaaarrrgggghhh!!!!!! so i get to digging around on the plugs(the front ones were a real pita ). i found unused terminal spaces in the plugs. drilled out the unused holes and feed wire thru them and the plug. thru the loom and into the doors. man what a job. but the amp is staying cool now and the shut off delima has been solved. who else has ventured on this journey. i used lightening audio strike 14 gauge wire.

ONE, I got an Alpine amp in my 04 with the factory hu and wired it to the speakers like you originally did. I decided later to upgrade my hu to a mp3/satellite hu and I wanted to do it right so I re-wired the hu/amp to the speakers, but not due to a heat problem. I didn't have a problem routing my wires through the door, no drilling, the looms between the door and the body were a little stubborn but I used fish tape to get them through. Not sure which plugs your talking about.

here it is finally.

ok here are some pics of what i had to do. granted these are only the back doors due to the ease of the pics. the front requiered much more diassembly.
this is a pic of the plug in the front door.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...li/MVC-094S.jpg
here is a pic of the loom for the back door.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...li/MVC-095S.jpg
here is a pic of the plug that goes into the body. as you can see there is no room around it to the rubber loom boot to run wires.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...li/MVC-097S.jpg
here is a pic of it pulled away. again as you can see no room.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...li/MVC-098S.jpg
so here was my solution. drilled out blank pin spots to accomadate the 14 gauge wire. then fed it thru.

and another with the plug seperated.

for those that have an 04 05 supercrew new body style i figure this will help out. i have only seen four other supercrews and they were the same. if yours is different lemme see them. man this was a small chore. the rear ones werent to bad. but the front!!! first off the parking brake foot lever assembly hasd to be unbolted and moved out of the way on the drivers side. then remove the boot and then the plug. on the front the lever you see one top folds back releasing the plug. there is a little silver tab on the bottom of the plug remaining in the door frame that has to be pushed up to get it to come out to drill it. on the pass side you have to unbnolt the fuse box assembly to gain access.

Ok its confirmed, WTF are those plugs?? I do NOT have those on my truck. My front and back doors look like your back doors. No plugs, just rubber boots with the loom going from the door to the body. Easy as cake.

I can definitely see why this would be tough. Wonder what the purpose is?

I think the problem is in the 2005 models (I could be wrong) but I have a 2005 screw and I have the damn connector plugs on the front and on the rear is the standard plugs with plenty of room around the plug. Why Ford did this on the front doors is beyond my comprehension. I have asked aroudn and the only choices are going to be drilling a new holes in the body and door for a new loom and grommet or wiring into the existing wires.
