Not Happy With Your MTX Supercrew BOX?

Neither was I - Just inherited one with the used 01 Supercrew I got and the Sub was weak (not high end quality). Not enough hit or lows for me. So I took that sucker out... and wanted to install a Pioneer sub I had been using... The Pioneer's magnet is about twice as round and deep and the outer diameter of the speaker was a little bigger. (The mtx looks like tiny and chinsy compared) So I ended up using a hand grinder and ground away the outer rim of the plastic sub box to make this Pioneer fit. Then guess what? The sub was still too tall to mount flush... So I made an adapter ring to lay in between the sub and the box. This let the sub lay flat and mount up nice and tight. Man, what a difference.. This sub is making my head hurt .. the MTX was always being 'bent' I call it - Just too much power or lows for the sub to handle.

This took about 2 hours to do - Just a thought for those of you hating your MTX box.

i ran to jl 8s in my mtx thunderform and it sounded great. no fitment problems. overall i think the mtx enclosure is pretty good. i never heard it with the mtx sub in it.
