Q for Bartak?
Q for Bartak?
I was looking at the ascendant audio atlases like yours, and was wondering if you wired yours down to 1 ohm in series? Their website is really confusing with the wiring and the qts settings for their subs, so i was wondering how much power and air space you had on each sub? Or anyone who can answer, it would be a great help.

Hey man. The sub is basically SVC 4 ohm. There are 2 coils, a silver one, which you hook to the amp, and a gold one, which you use to adjust the Qts, but dont power. Mine are wired in parallel for a 2 ohm load. Running it on the high Qts mode currently.
The adj. Qts is a very nice feature. Put a jumper wire across the gold terminals, and you have a Qts of .33. A 1.5 ohm resister between them will give you a Qts of .45, and leaving them open, nothing connecting them will give you .54 if I remember right.
I have a Diamond D5 600.1 amp on them, 600 watts at 2 ohms, underrated some.
Ive heard of people putting 500 watts to them for short times, but Chad told me he builds them to handle not a whole lot more than what they are rated at to keep cost down, but Im sure they could take 350-375 easy in the right box.
My box is 1.8 Cu Ft per sub (sealed). A little bigger than what Chad recommends (1.5), mine just gives me a little 'looser' and lower bass. If you want to go ported, plan for a big box. I plan on porting mine, and even though it is on the small side for going ported, the WinISD chart still looked good (tuned to 30 Hz, and on the low qts setting of course).
Def. SWEET sound quality subs, nice and accurate, and they get decently loud too. Just dont plan on winning and SPL contest, these are SQ drivers. But I was surprised that they get as loud as they do. I have buddys with 2 12's in ported boxes and Im louder than them.
One last thing, if you planned on getting them at the clearnace price, you to late
I called Chad the other day and he said they were all out of the Atlas models. The Mk II's should be out soon though. And price will be round 135-140. Very good deal for what you get, and can easily hand with high end drivers twice the cost, SQ wise.
If you have anymore questions def ask.
Ascendant Audio Rules!! Might wanna check out the Avalanche 12's too.

Ya after reading a post on SD i realized they were all out of the Atlasses. So right now my main goal is to try and get my hands on this cadence amp, and wait for their new subs or something from SS. The avalanche 12s might get me into way too much trouble so ill let those pass
Thanks for clearing that up, it makes since looking at the specs now. Any idea if the new ones are gonna be set up the same way with the voice coils?
