8" in doors

I have a 2002 Supercrew. I bought a set of three way components and would like to put the 8" midbass in my door. Has anybody done that? If so, Does it require alot of modification? I plan on putting the midrange and tweeters in the kick panels.

I thought about putting 8inch mids in the doors and comps in some kick panels like that too, but after getting the 6.5's in there i dont think I want to try , That would be a lot of cutting, and theres a lot of crap behind there.

I think Cgorris and Roushfan put 8's in there doors though, havent seen either one of them for awhile though. Might be able to search and find something, I talked to Cgorris a lot about doing it, cant remember crap about what we said tho.

Haha, sorry I guess that wasnt much help.

Just went and looked at my 02 Screw doors (I have 6 1/2"s) and it looks like with a little CAREFUL cutting and a 1/2" to 3/4" spacer behind the speaker that it will fit. I have about 1" or so between the door panel and the face of the 6 1/2" component. Depending on the mounting depth of the 8", it should fit. I can't tell you how much room I have between the magnet and the window when it's down, but a 3/4" spacer should bring the 8" out far enough to clear. You'll have to pull the door panel and unscrew the stock 4x6" and hold the 8" in the hole and give it a look, see what's doin' . Dosen't look like anightmare though.

.5 to 75 spacer might be to much, unless they dont have much x max. Heck, I have a 3/16th inch adapter plate for my comps and I haft have the gains all the way down or the surround on them will hit the door.

Yeah, I guess it depends on the speakers as well. I was just looking at the 6 1/2 's in my doors and it looks like you could get at least a 1/2" spacer behind my polk audio db's with out hitting the panel, but imagining that and installing a spacer are to different things.

I swear, my doorpanels are closer than anyone elses. No one can believe they hit, and they all hve huge spacers w/o hitting the door panel

I dunno

Maybe in 99 the door panels fit a little snug? Lots of room in my 02 Screw.
