Subwoofer Box Idea, any opinions?

What do you think of a sub box that would hold a single 10 under the passenger seat, continue across to the driver side but have a level top about 3 inches below the seat to mount an amp, corssovers whatever.

This should still allow enough space for a sub designed for a sealed enclosure and provide a nice surface to mount the amp. It could even have a "lip" at the front and the sides to protect/hide the equipment.

I am thinking of this because my amp is just too wide to fit between the seat brackets on the passenger side, and I can't find a sub box that is designed to fit under the passenger seat.

Has anyone done this?

Am I nuts for even considering it?

Ken.

would that really give you that much room to mount everything to?

And did you think about what would happen if you moved a seat forward/back? Would you have to move both of them? Or would you just have to put them at a spot and leave them?

Hmm, Im assuming he means under the back seat?? Maybe?

I would make the top right above the sub all the way to the botton of the seat, so you have more mounthing depth, and then step it down for the little shelf.

If you are talking about under the front seats, I dont thing that would work to well, unless you have the pre 97 body style with a solid bench seat that you never move.

I got a 2004 Supercab with a box that fits underneath the back seat. It has 2 10 inch Subs. {1 on each side} I got an 800 watt amp stuffed under the drivers seat. { it wouldnt fit between the Subs in the box because of the transmission hump }

If he wants the specifics, I can dig out all the info for him?
