Your kinda stuck with the "two 10 inch truck boxes behind the seat, amp(s) under the seat on either side, and 1 set of components in the doors" set up. Not much more you can do unless you want to put a huge box in the bed and cut out the metal behind the seat. But, on the flip side you don't need much to make a system sound good in a standard cab. If you really want a killer sound stage, put 2 sets of components up front, 1 set in the doors, 1 set in sond kick panels (got mine from crutchfield.com) hooked up to a 4 channel AMP. IT WILL ROCK! TREUST ME. Good luck.

Rockafella, Did you buy those kick panels from crutchfield, or are they custom? Looks awesome, and I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks

Bought them from www.Crutchfield.com for $120. And worth EVERY penny! They come with just enought polyfil for both sides, I did however buy the 5 1/4" deep baffles to protect the speakers from the wires behind the kick panels and vis versa. You do need to cut out the holes for the components, but all you need is a rotory cutter/dremel. It's messy, but easy.

Oh, and if you just want 1 set of components and not the "over kill of sound" like me, I would take the kick panels over putting anything in your doors/stock speaker locations. The imaging is awesome! Just unhook the stock ones and leave them in the doors. I know 3 sets of components 2 front/1 rear is way too much for most people, but I like to be surrounded by sound. Each to his/her own.....

2004 Regular Cab Budget Stereo.

I recently installed a stereo in my 2004 Regular Cab STX. I had lofty goals such as nice, tight clean bass with about 600 watts RMS for subs and 4x75 watts RMS for the highs. I wanted a custom box built with 4 tens in a downward firing box. I received quotes of $2200 for this system with first line products. I was only willing to spend ~$700. So I did it myself.

Alpine CDA-9825: Great clean sound w/ 3 4-volt pre-amp outputs. Unbelievable sound quality and features when coupled with an iPod adaptor.

$149 from CircuitCity.com

Alpine KAC-4201: Plug it into a compatible Alpine Head Unit and it allows full control of any iPod. My low budget Alpine HU now has my entire music collection at my fingertips with full controls right on the HU. The iPod only displays the Alpine logo on the screen and all functions disabled. The iPod is hidden in my glove compartment.

$95 from BestBuy.com

Profile CA800: This is my bass amp. 1x600 watts rms. This was a discontinued Circuit City model. This has got to be the best line of amps for the money. Profiles are still sold in Crutchfield.com. I bought mine directly from Profile.

$79 from http://www.profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm

Profile CA640: This is my mids/highs amp. 4x75 watts rms.

$69 from http://www.profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm

Profile SF720 5x7 Coaxial: These sound amazing! I bought two pairs to go into my factory locations.

$14.95/pair from http://www.profilecaraudio.com/speakers.htm

Profile CW-10 10” subwoofer: I bought 4 to go into the custom downfire box I built. These things POUND!

$15.95/each from http://www.profilecaraudio.com/speakers.htm

The total is ~$485 in hardware. If you include shipping, amp wiring kit and wood and supplies for me to build my box. I’m probably right at my $700 target.

Let me know what you guys think.

Link wont work for me, probably my crappy internet though.

Since when has Profile made speakers? I thought they just made amps.
Sounds like a cool little setup though.

Are you using the dustcaps on your kicks? I have those qlogic kicks and I got the foam dust caps and was using them. I took them out last weekend, and the polyfill, and I got arseloads of midbass back, I'm real happy.

Also, you aren't limited to any size sub/box, if you're willing to make your own If you get a chance, listen to someone who has the subs firing into the back of the seat, and then someone who has the subs firing down. You'll never do anything other than a down firing sub again

Im going to run some Boston Acoustics 5 1/4 pro series in my doors, mount the tweets either down by the winshield, or cut a hole in the door. Then put my 12" elemental designs sub in between the seats in the back.

I have a 2005 SC, 4x4, STX.
