1998 F150 Supercab speaker replacement

I have an X-cab 1998 F150.

How hard is it to replace the speakers myself?
The back ones look like a b!tch. There is so much plastic that I'm afraid to break. The doors look easier, but do I need a tool to release the panels?

Should I just get Best Buy / HH Greg to do the job, or save some $$$ and do it myself?

Thanks ~Jim

The door speakers can definately be done on your own with little effort and I think that if you went and payed to have them installed that you'd be getting robbed... I'd explain how to take them off, but why do that where there is a nice tutorial with pretty pictures here:

As for the rear speakers I'm sure you can google it and find some information on it.

Good luck!

It's almost as the link says, but you have the different door panels right?

You'll also have to unscrew the handle itself, and another hidden screw under a plastic cover about the size fo a quarter.

Anyone have an opinion on these speakers ? I'd just be running them with the factory HU. Just trying to get a little better sound (for cheap).

Well, I bought a set.

Crutchfield includes a master install sheet for the whole truck, so instructions will be included for the front and rear speakers. If it looks easy enough I'm going to get a set for the back too.

Gonna swing by Best Buy for some DynaMat sheets when I do the front set.
