6x8 door speakers
6x8 door speakers
Does the auido system sound any better if I were to just change out the speakers? and what does everyone suggest? also are they a true 6x8? I would like to keep the stock head unit! (2004 f-150 x-cab)
Thanks Jason

Sure, It'll sound noticeably better. Much more detail. You will probably loose a little bass and it might crackle at loud volumes - due to your stereo being underpowered.
6x8's and 5x7's will be a perfect fit.

I used these with a 98 OEM HU, and its sounds much better. Notice RMS is 2-60 watts, so they don't need tons of power.
The stock speakers were full-range paper units, and even the cheap Polk 2-ways sounded worlds better. Not sure whats in your '04 stock...
The included directions/connectors made installing all 4 myself, a real breeze.
Real happy with the upgrade.
2004 XLT Supercrew, swapped out the front 5 x 7's with Infinity Kappas for $150 ( i know its a cliche' speaker) but it was a "decent" upgrade, Ive since removed the rear speakers (Ill be running an AudioBahn 6004t in tri mode to the 2 fronts and a single 10" sub) Anywa, Im waiting for my sub to come in, so for the time being, 2 infinities up front, amped, and nothing else.......sounds WORLDS better. fills the truck with sound.........and so far, i couldnt be happier. Cant wait to drop the enclosure in the back!
new speakers
i just got a pair of kenwood excelon kfc680 and they sound awsome. They can hit pretty low for only 6x8 and they are run off a factory head unit. The tweeters are sweet as well. awsome upgrade going to order two more for the back doors.
