carpet on a box

carpet on a box

I am getting installed my system today but the box im getting isnt carpeted yet and I plan on doing it. For me to carpet it do I need to take the sub out and carpet it and put the sxtra inside then put the sub on. Or can i head it all hooked and and carpet it just on the outside with the demenisions right and just glue it on?

Get the carpet and with some help, hold it on the box and trim it so you can make your folds and such without a huge amount of excess around the edges.

It would probably be easier to pull the sub, spray the box and the carpet with 3M adhesive, wait 10 minutes and then put the carpet on. Put it right across the sub holes and wait an hour or so for it to set up.

If the sub diameter is a real exact fir with the box, you won't have room to tuck the extra carpet into the hole. Using the box as a guide, cut the carpet out with a real sharp knife.

If the sub fits real loose and you choose to tuck it in, be sure to glue it securely all around the mounting lip. Then, when you install the sub, you need to be sure it is sealed to the box as well.

Air leaks suck when it comes to subs...
