10" sup opinions please....

I am gonna put the SupercrewSound box under the seat box with 2 10's in my truck. What would be the best speaker/amp combo to get. I want it to ROCK like HeJJ!!! Also, any reccommendations on how to keep my factory CD changer working or is it impossible?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Derek

Well, your not going to make 2 10's 'rock like he ll' but good for adding a little extra bump.
How much money do you want to spend on the pair of subs and amp? Sound like you want it more SPL than SQ huh? Also, what is the volume of the box and how mounting depth is there?

If you are using the stock HU you can keep the cd changer, you will need a LOC to connect the amp to the HU though. Cost about 15 bucks.

I am thinking of this box:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

It is from www.soundoffaudio.com

I talked with the owner & he said he'd sell me 2 Power Bass 10" subs, a 520 watt amp & the box for $430 delivered. He reccommended this setup & said it was the best sounding for the Supercrew! I don't know much about speakers as you can tell...Money isn't an issue, I just don't want to go broke! but I want it to be clear/crisp & ROCK!! Clarity is very important...I don't want no distortion!! I also read about filling the box with some spray stuff?

What do you reccommend?

He reccomends it and says its the best setup because he wants to get rid of it.

If you dont want to mess around with finding the right subs and amp then go for it. But there is better for the money. Im not a power bass fan so if it were me I would get other stuff. Much better for the same price off Ebay or somewhere.

Not sure what spray you are talking about. Maybe you mean PolyFill. Slows down the sound waves to try and make the sub think the box is bigger. Ive nevver seen and numbers to prove that it works, although alot of people say they can notice a little difference.

That is what I was thinking....he's got overstock. I am probably going to go with Kicker Comps since I've heard they'll sound good with minimal airspace. Yes, Polyfill is what I was talking about!

Thanks for the advice! OH! about what size amp will I need to push these 10's. I want plenty of power since I'll be running a few other speakers as well!

Are you going with the Comps or Comp VRs? Comps are 150wrms I think and the comp VR's are 300wrms. If your going with the Comps look for something 300-350 wrms. I cant remember about this either but I think the Comps only come in 4 ohm SVC?? I think. If so look for an amp that can put out 300-350 watts RMS @ 2 ohm. Cant think of any like that at the moment, but I know theres some out there.

I am thinking of getting Punch Stage 1's. So what you are saying is that I need to run my 10's at 2 ohms? & I need subs to handle 300 watts max or constant?

No no, I thought you were getting the Kicker Comps.? I was saying the only reasonable way to wire the Comps would be 2 ohm, so you would need an amplifier that puts out 300-350 watts continous(RMS) at 2 ohm. Sorry, im trying to make this the least confusing as I can

If I had a choice between the kicker comps and rockford p1's Id take the Comps.

I went to a local stereo shop today & the dude told me to go with P2's & to run them at 8 ohms because of the limited airspace....what do you think of that advise? He also said to get a 500 watt Fosgate amp to push them.

Ahh your crappin me, I just wrote a halfway long post and my connection went shatty and I lost it. So im going to try and sum this one up.

Anyway, the P2's are to deep and wont fit in that box, and running them at 8 ohms sounds stupid to me. Id say he either said that to try and sell you a bigger amp to push them at 8 ohm and get some more money outta ya, or he's a dip.

The P1's will fit in there, plus there is enough recomended airspace for them in that box. Another thing, you can get 2 of them at crutchfield for 99 bucks.

The kicker comps will also fit in there, however that box is a little small airspace wise. But you could just stick some poly fill in there and send a little more power to them.

I think I am gonna go with the music moose box....it has a little more airspace & the P2's will fit in it. Also I can get it for $150 with a 2" seat lift as well!

If you can afford the P2's might as well go for them.

The P2 only come in single voice coil 4 ohm versions too I think. If so wire them for 2 ohm, and look for a mono amp that puts out 400ish watts RMS at 2 ohm.
