Building a speaker box, 02 L

Hey guys,
I'm considering building a speaker box for my L, with the help of my grand father who is an excellent carpenter and craftsmen. For those of you who have done it, is it worth it to build your own speaker box? I know I need to use MDF, what thickness though? 3/4 or 1 inch? Also, does anybody have plans for a speaker box to go behind the seats in an L? Similar to the MTX Thunderform??? Thinking of putting 2 10's, probably JL Audio subs. Thanks!!!

Well 3/4 MDF will be fine. THe only problem is that you have to work with is the mounting depth of the subs and try to get the correct airspace for each woofer. Personally I was planning on biulding my own, but I am getting a custom biult box for behind my seat for a 10 for 40 bucks from a company that does nothing but biuld boxes.
