Does anyone know if Alpine subwoofers are any good? I have heard good things and bad things. I am planning on getting a single 12" Q-Logic bandpass box, but i can't decide woofer to put in it. I have an Alpine CD player and I have four Alpine 6x8's. I am also looking at some Alpine tweeters. I would kind of like to have everything Alpine, but if the subs suck I am going to get a differnt brand. Thanks for the help.

I had 3 MTX tens in a box with a MTX 350 amp and it HIT hard!!! When i got my 01 f150 I found that I dont have room for them now all i can put it 2 under the back seat but it still sounds good..

 

it depends on which alpines you're talking about. i've heard only good things about the new Type Rs. Alpine makes overall good products, but IMO, you can get better subs for equal or less, like JL and ID

 

I have heard the new Alpin type R's. they do sound very good, but I can't justify the price. Also I don't believe they are recomended for a band pass box, but not sure.

OK. Let's put this in perspective. Alpine make GREAT head uniits.
But they AREN'T know for subs. When was the last time you heard ANY of your buds say "Check out my new Alpine subs" or
"I just won the local SPL contest with my nifty Alpine subs"
I agree with SVTX. For the money, you can do far better going with JL or MTX or Kicker or XXX.

 

The type R's are pretty nice SQ subs that get pretty loud but the $300 price tag is pretty weak. If I were you i would ditch that shawdy q-logic box(sound boomy as hell) and look at image dynamics or audiomobile or jl or orion or something. The audiomobile EVO's are really nice subs and the 12"s are only $200 a pop but you can only get them at www.audiomobileinc.com or www.sounddomian.com
