What should I do?
Ive built a box that will hold 2 10" speakers. However I only got about .9 cubic feet. The speakers are rockford fosgate XLC 10"s which I believe call for .6 apiece. I have heard that if you put polyfill in it, it effectively increases the volume by 10 percent which means I would be at about 1 cubic foot. Will this be enough air space for 2 10"s? Or should I only put 1 in. I have 2 so I would like to put em both in but not if they are going to sound like crap. What happens when they dont have enough air space? Any help greatly appreciated!!!
Larry,
The nice thing about a sealed enclosure is you can fudge a little bit on the airspace. I say throw the polyfill in slap both those puppies in there and enjoy! The worst that will happen is they won't go quite as low as they would have in the absolute dead on box. It will also take just a bit more power to really make them sing. I think you'll be alright with both of them though. Let us know how they sound.

I did the same thing . . . had a box that was too small so the low notes did not play at all, and the high notes were way too loud. I found a better box for my 10's that would fit under the rear seat and give me almost one cubic foot of airspace for driver. The more air, the better the sound!

I have your exact same situation and found I had to go to a single 10" and port the box. The port was just because I want all the low end I can get out of my subs.
Let me put a good word in for running singles. I have had subs since the mid 80's in everything I owned, from 280zx's to 4 door sedans to the most recent, the f150 Supercab. I have run single 15's down to double 10" to my latest, the single 10". I have always run an older Fosgate 150 amp or equal (around 225 watts mono). The 10" compares very well since it is located within the cab itself and will definite increase your air pressure. Finetuning crossovers and gains will do a lot for you. Good luck.
