Question Polk subs any good?

I'm planning on putting a couple of 8" subs under the rear seat on each side of the transmission hump of my extended cab in custom built sealed boxes. I'm leaning towards the 8" Polk db because of it's power handling and the small enclosure (.25 cu. ft) that it requires...and I've heard good stuff about Polk in the past! I was just wondering if anyone has anything good or bad to say about this sub (or any other 8" subs). I'm planning on running 200 Watts to each sub, and from what I've read the Polk should be able to handle it. I'm not planning on going with anything bigger than an 8" sub, since I don't want to raise the seats or loose any foot room in the rear.

Any sub with a large magnet designed to work in a small box should work fine.
Ignore 1w/m spl ratings for subs.
See mtx site to see why.
Low fs essential.
Low vas fits in small box.
Don't just pay just for name.
Make sure speaker is quite beefy.

You should do pretty well with those Polk's. When they came out with the DB line a couple years ago, they were very very popular. The only place I have heard them was in a shop, never in a car/truck. They did sound pretty good though, so go for it.

The Polk db series is very accurate. My friend has two 10" installed in his Expedition. I was considering them. However, I ended up replacing the subs in my MTX Thunderform with 2 8"-4ohm Fosgate Punch XLC. Great improvement. Reasonable price. My amp runs best at 2ohm. Many are not two ohm stable. Make sure you figure out wiring and configuration, for your sub and amp, prior to purchasing your subs. That way you maximize your system. You may want to consider a cap. I am seriously considering one myself. Verdicts not in......

Be well,

Todd

Hobie2,

How in the h*ll did you put two 12" subs into your regular cab?

Also, did you notice an improvement with your cap and where did you put it??

Thanks,

Todd
