Amp for multiple subs?

If i were to get 2 to 3 re8's(the 2 ohm dvc) then could i run that with one mono amp? If so would a hifonics bx1000d or bx1500d be a good choice?

Also do most people run there re8s at over 200 watts?

I was not aware they had a dvc 2 ohm, I thought the 2003 and earlier were svc 2, and 2004 were dvc 4 ohm. Also, I wouldn't push em much more than 200, I ran two at 175 each and they performed flawlessly. I'm sure they can take more, but I didn't want to push em. The brutus amps should be ok, just set the gain accordingly.

He's right, they don't need 200 watts to shine, but they can handle it in the right setup.

No most people don't have that much on them, in fact it's the other way around, most run around 150 watts to them and as little as 75 watts and they still sound fine.
As spr_F150 said just use the gain on those amps metioned.

I have not heard of a dvc 2 ohm either unless they are custom made by RE, which is highly possible.

My bad they are SVC's, and also does anyone know the mounting depth? Also what is the internal volume needed per sub for a ported box for an re8, about .7 cu ft?

If memory serves me correct, I think the mounting depth is about 4.5 inches. The re site lists .5 cu @ 32 hz. Also, you metioned getting two or three. Be careful of the end ohm load you come out with. I'm not sure that 3 ea svc 2 ohm subs would end in a stable ohm load for those amps.

Displacement on the RE8s are .09 cb. and I think 3 svc 2 ohms subs will end up with a .67 ohms load. You can call RE and see if they can make you 3 8 ohms subs which would give you a 2.67 ohms load, much easier to find an amp for.

So it would be easier to go with 2 or 4 subs? Also is there a guide or FAQ, to show me how to calculate the ohm load ?

I would recommend this link....super easy to read and use. It is possible to run 3 off of a mono--either a 3 ohm load or a 1.34 ohm load.

It is possible, but not at the ohm load you mention. The older model re8 is a svc 2 ohm, not dual.

He's right, older ones, (less than a year ago) are single 2 ohms. Thats the ones I have and mine are not that old.
The new ones are 2 ohm DVC. Just make sure which ones your are getting.
