6x8 Question again
I have seen some post on here about the rear 6x8's in an extended cab F150 and that they really dont matter much? I have not been really into speakers untill recently so I went with A name I new ,Rockford Fosgate. I have purchased HPC2268's for the rear and P1682S COMPONENTS for the front. I have also bought a P4004 to push them. Is this a good set up?{kinda late because they are on their way} I will get a box and subs later when I search this webpage some more and see what yall like best. I think the R.F. P2 10's are to deep for the probox for my truck but will worry about that later.
Thanks
Robert

I'm currently running Rockford Fosgate 6 X 8's (can't think of the P/N) coaxials in the rear of my 2003 extended cab and 6 1/2" components (Rockford Fosgate, also) in the front doors. They are hooked into a 360.6 Rockford Fosgate 6 channel amp. So far, I'm really impressed with the sound quality and durability, especially living in a cold climate like Alaska. I think they are a good match with the dual 8's underneath the rear seats. I've had them for a year and haven't had any issues with them. I've got some pics of them in my gallery, take a look...

Hey ,thanks for the quick reply. I am glad to know I did alright with the Fosgate's. How do the 8's sound in your tuck? I want something to even out the sound , I am not into the heavy bass. Also I seen your pics and it looks like you took out the dust covering around the grills in the doors?
Thanks again,
Robert

Actually, my 2003 didn't even have the dust covers, I kinda wish they came with the truck though. Me personally, it's all about stealth.
The eights I have are nice for my taste, nice punch, and it'll suprise me and hit a real deap note and shake the steering wheel and my outside mirrors. And when I put the seats down, no one knows there in there. IMO, the system is very well balanced.
I'm not into really deep bass either, that'd be my brother, I built a box with 8 12" Rockford subs for the back of his 97 F150, then another box for the back of his F350 ext cab dually when he traded his 97 in. That thing shook the bejeezes out of his truck, but it was fun to build.

i also run 2 8" fosgates under the back of my rear cab seats. they sound great, but i think for a more complete low frequency ill need to add a 10 or a 12. the 8's really shine in the 80hz range,
but as for the 70hz and down they push hard but its not that low thunderous feel you get with a 12. some people are really happy with 8s, if you dont listen for that last 10hz you can get out of your bass.

My first install(if you could call it that) was in a 1961 Chevy Impala. It was a Kraco under dash 8-track player with Kraco "wedge" speakers in the rear package shelf. I distinctly remember buying the equipment at Nationwise Auto Parts in Circleville, Ohio. It was 1971. I used to drive around town with my windows down listening to the Doobie Brothers, Three Dog Night, The Eagles. I'm certain the sound was awful, but I didn't know that at the time.
