I dont know alot about this subwoofer stuff but i am looking into getting the Pro box from proboxrocks.com. I have a lightning and want to see if i can get 2 12's behind the seat. The pro box is set for 2 12's, but i dont really understand waht subs can fit. IT say there is 7.75"of mounting depth, and .75 cubic feet of airspace in each side. I want to get the Rockford Power subs and dont know if these will fit. Any help on this will be appreciated, or if anybody knows a box that will work, im just looking. Also, does anyone know if i will lose alot of legroom with this box. Thanks again for the help. I appreciate it.

I went to crutchfield.com and looked up the specs for this sub:


Recommended Sealed Box Volume: Rockford Fosgate recommends mounting this woofer in a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of between 1.0 cu/ft. and 1.5 cu/ft. with an ideal volume of 1.25 cu/ft.

Top Mount Depth (inches) 6 3/4

It looks like it would fit, but with the airspace requirements, it would probably not sound as good as something that fit better.

It is all about having the right combination of power and subs in the correct box. You could probably call proboxrocks directly and they could tell you what subs work best in their opinion for that particular box. I bet they have tested many different brands.

 

It sounds like your fosgate power subs won't have enough air space for the box, even though the mounting depth is correct. If the specs are right, the sub needs 1.0 to 1.5 c.f. of air space and the box only allows .75 per sub making the box too small for 2 subs. If you can order the box sealed with only one opening for 1 12" sub, then it will work. Or you can step down in subs to find one that will use only about .65 to .72 cubic ft. of air space. ( you have to subtract for sub displacement) You can go with the 12" stage 2's or 3's for the box. As for the loss of leg room, just look up the measurments for the probox and look at the widest measurement, the bottom, if the bottom of the box is 12 inches wide then measure from the back of the cab to the back of the seat 12 inches and forward your seat to that mark. Then just get in and you'll see what your leg room will be like.

Thanks for the help guys, i think im starting to understand this more. Does anybody have any recommendations for subs that will fit? i have a hook up at best buy and thats y i chose to go with rockford. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

JL Audio makes good subs that do not require a huge amount of airspace. They are fairly inexpensive for the base series subs and sound good. I have Kicker Comp VR and it sounds good, I believe the Kicker Solobarics do not have very high airspace requirements. The problem is going to be finding a 12 that only needs that much airspace. I bet it will not be easy, you might have to think about a pair of 10's or maybe seeing of probox can build the box for one 12 with 1.5 cu ft of airspace.

 

Yea, i thinking about just stepping down to get 10's. The box has the same amount of airspace. So maybe the rockford 10's will fit in that?

If those Fosgates are the T112D2/T112D4 models they should work. I'm getting those and have gone over the specs repeatedly before buying the ProBox. The recommended volume of 0.75 cubic foot and mounting depth of only 6.7 (directly from Rockford Fosgate's website) are well within the ProBox tolerances. Plus, they put out 600W RMS .

 

I just figured out why Crutchfield has the wrong specs for those RM subs. Seems like they're pushing the "recommended" Q-Logic box on the right side of same page which happen to have, what do you know, 1.25 cubic feet volume. What a coincidence LOL.

 

Weird, maybe I was looking @ the wrong model# on RF's website but when I received the T112D4 last week the recommended volume listed on the box is actually 1.25 instead of 0.75. Considering that I lost some leg room with the Probox I'll end up having to get a custom box fabricated. Wonder what I'm going to do with this NIB Probox.

 

Sorry for another post but I just checked RF's website. The recommended (sealed enclosure) air volume for the T112D4 is 0.75. I have the box sitting next to me and it says 1.25. Can someone clarify this?
