Sorry for my ignorance, but I have never mounted a sub into a custom box. I have a customer box for my 04 F-150. I purchased a RE8 subwoofer. I've centered the sub and marked where I need to mount the sub. I was going to drill a small pilot hole and then use wood screws. I figure a pilot hole will keep from cracking the box. Are wood screws ok? Is there a better way? This is a down fire box.
Thank you,
Rich
Does anyone know if the unit in the 04 F-150 Lariat 6 CD in-dash unit will accept a sub? I guess it's called a pre-out or sub-out?
I received some awesome feedback on the RE8 sub woofer. It's made by reaudio.com The sub runs $56.00 shipped. If you're tight on funds and need a AWESOME sub, check-out RE. (reaidio.com)

Yes. Always pre-drill holes before installing a subwoofer into a box. Like you said, it helps to prevent the wood from splitting. I use wood screws for my box and have no problems.
I have no answer for your other question. Not even sure of what you're talking about...
