round vs oval

Anyone know of any significant differences between round and oval component mid-range speakers?

No difference.

Only benifit I could see is if you go with oval 5x7's you wouldnt have to mod the doors any or make a mounting bracket.

Honestly I don't know how much that holds true anymore.

Over the years technology has produced better materials making the cones more rigid/sturdy. Unless it's at big power, I don't think the average ear will be able to notice.

The above is for good quality speakers.

From what I have been seeing and hearing lately the only difference I can tell is the round speakers have a much wider and better selection of speakers.

I don't plan on putting tons of power through anything. I'm one of those guys that just wants good clean sounds for classic rock and country music.

I figured on putting Kicker K-series K57.2 (5x7) components in the front and K57 coax speakers in the back. Any comments on the speakers?
